I will never forgive the Artificial Intelligence that populated in 2023 for taking over one of my favorite developers of all times job and making him completely jobless.

I don't know the dev personally, but to this day ever since this post (and previous situations discussed in his discord, I've always been hoping I could support him with all I got as well as the other three (or two now that one of them is released) that I'm looking forward to playing and reviewing.

Well... Grok taking away video generation with no warning and when it was great for trolling your friends has definitely soured me some.

I see anyone who uses AI chats or genAI as a lower human. That's my stance.

It being used in the context of robots or other menial functions seems fine. Using it to supplement thought or artistic effort is deeply pathetic, and I very harshly judge people who do so.

Atm it feels heavily undercut by the scam culture surrounding it. Currently im not a fan at all. Even starting to hate it over usage, i dislike the way it gasses people up. Especially about being wrong or manipulating reality to fit their imagined world. But i understand eventually this charade must eventually collapse and the investments will end up underwhelming the expectations and we'll enter an era of reasonable moderate use and progress where it is genuinely useful, without it shoved everywhere.

I barely touch the stuff if i can avoid it.

despite actively wanting some of the adjacent technology promised, i do not trust those promising it. I don't trust this era of media manipulation. So I don't trust ai.

It's useful for some things but I can't help but wondering if it simply wants me to think that. Some people lose their shit interacting with chatgpt everyday. They lose sight of what's really going on and are easily exploited. That's the real danger with AI. It's convenient but is it the world beater that the tech bros want it to be? FUCK NO

Ahem...keep tempers cool please...

It's an interesting tool. I've asked AI on problems with my computer but at this point, if you're going to actually do something creative with AI, you might have to think twice or be very prudent in your usage. The present backlash is such that if people so much as sniff a whiff of AI on your new comics, video or home made movie, you will get called on it intensely and be practically cancelled. The only exception I know of would be shorts of commercial media that you won't see the IP holders doing something with it soon, like hollywood movie trailers of your favorite videogames and old TV shows.

I am going to be frank. I'm using GEN AI for place-holders to create image backdrops for my music b.c I have thousands of hours of music already written and b.c it's incredibly expensive and time consuming to hire artists. AM I A BAD PERSON?

Pretty sure half of the bombastic lunatics on this forum would put you in a gulag for it, then pirate your music anyway.

Nah, I'm like the biggest Gen AI hater here and I think you're alright as long as it's just a placeholder and not the final product.

I have no problem with people using AI for personal use, or for placeholders that will be replaced down the line. I'm just deeply burnt out on the AI art flood online.

Nah, don't even try to act like you've got aura if you need an AI to create art for you.

Pretty clear you made this thread to start shit with people who dislike AI with no intentions to actually prove them wrong, just ragebait baked right into the title. All because you're scared to pick up a pencil.
The proposed answers are really saying something too (bait). I won't pick any as they don't fit my stance and, as I swore to myself I'd never argue or bring/spread negativity on my life on this forum, I'll only answer this topic once:

I despise AI and genAI with the fury of a million suns, there are only a few things I hate more in this world.

With the studies showing that AI use lowers cognitive function, I'm glad I never went heavy into AI usage.

AI is incapable of creating anything. AI images are just composites of existing images.

Considering every farmer wants nothing to do with AI company's buying their land I already know a majority of them with enough sense ain't gonna touch this stuff, nor waste their money on it.

Peter Thiel is a misanthropic butt fuck with a load of money and is still never happy. He expects to be in charge of some apocalypse, or something with a bunker and wants slaves.

Deal with it. Thiel don't give fuck about people, and sure as hell, don't give a fuck about you. He sees everyone as mindless slaves or ants. This is why you don't suck up to assholes in power. I'll hear nothing else from you otherwise.

Is it not lost on everybody here that this is a public facing forum, where chronically implicating people by name with baseless accusations around slavery or malicious intent might not be the wisest thing to do?

Nevermind looking like an absolute lunatic in the process. AI is good, AI is bad, eat the rich, blah blah blah.

I already have the evidence, you just choose to ignore. I wouldn't expect anything less from somebody who's always out the please people who don't give a fuck about anyone but themselves. "Troll" all you want, doesn't make you the smartest individual in the world either. Nor clever and I use both those terms really loosely on you.

To those here who actually give a damn about the people and the environment they love and care about: people are fighting back on this, and that's not just people online. That includes the general population in a majority of places. As Max and the crew have pointed out in that yo video games podcast, investors are making money and maybe saving a few pennies but they're not making any profit, and the profit is still at zero or in the negative. Never give up, stay strong, and hit those dick tits and bitches where it hurts. Always stand up to tyrants and bullies. They will always be cowards and bitches in boxstands who only got here because they failed upward.

I'm glad young and younger people are realizing the issues with gen AI. More than a bunch of so called adults and foolish old people and their respective sycophants.

You are cold as ice, and I love it! Respect!

Fake AI Interviews

I'm getting tired of threads like this, but fine, let's go over the points and why discussion tends to be nothing more than a circlejerk.

  • AI farms use untold amounts of energy, increase hardware costs as well as environmental and noise pollution.
  • AI is a context and instruction sensitive collation and composition tool. In that capacity it is useful.
  • Almost every new tool is liable lower human capacities in some way - tools are created to enable and facilitate, thus lowering personal effort thresholds, whether that is a good thing or not.
  • Using AI in specific scenarios is useful, it can provide useful headway with parallel oversight.
  • LLMs, machine vision and other uses are mostly technologies fed by big tech: Microsoft, Apple and Google especially - putting a real dent on the situation would mean completely leaving those ecosystems, something most can't do for various reasons.
  • There is not enough support legislation to properly regulate AI use - shaming people for using them for non professional purposes will not change anything.
  • The bubble is not far from bursting. A strong telltale sign is the deserved rejection of Windows 11 and its AI leaning, because Microsoft has to justify it's massive multi-billion dollar investment in the thing, but let's not ignore the likes of Apple Intelligence, which is, by design, even more pernicious in its permanence.
This is not aimed at anyone in particular, and anyone is free to agree or not, this is an open discussion, I'm just frankly getting tired of it.
