Has anyone tried out the Starfox 64 PC port yet?

Aside from one or two hiccups Nightdive did a good job for most.

Sadly the more time goes on the more we find remasters that aren't 1:1 to their original.

Remasters are just ports for modern systems. We could as well call Star Fox 64 PC port a remaster. You could get better result with upscalers, shaders, mods and dosbox pure than what Nightdive ever produced (except System Shock remake). It's a marketing term from the music industry that never really made sense for games, as there's not even a discrete mastering process there to begin with.

So the best route to get the most upgrades is Left Right Left Left Right?

Thanks btw, I didn't have any idea that there were many routes like that.
yep, that's the very route that i used.
2 laser upgrades, a maxed out health bar, and one bomb if needed. i ended up not needing the bomb, shot him enough around in the middle of the face and dealt enough damage to proceed to round 2.
it is fairly unusual for there to be so many paths. the easy route has just the one tunnel. i guess because this is the hard path, you get more forks in the road.

But after replaying the game several times I think that Andross isn't too hard with his patterns.

he's not a hard boss, at least in round 1. he's more annoying in round 2 due to his teleport ability. i'd argue that the tunnel escape sequence after the fight is the true final battle.
