I don't really remember much about it, but there was an online mode for Counter-Strike (and I think Condition Zero?) where the players got ranked based on the number of kills they could rake up and that unlocked better gear for them, meaning that good players could buy better and better weapons each round whilst unsuccessful ones got stuck with pistols and low-grade/cheap stuff.

I liked it because it added a sense of urgency to the game... And also because the trash talking was next level XD

I forget the name of it, maybe Gun-game. Meet you down at fy_poolday. I miss all the crazy maps that used to be a cornerstone of counter-strike. If you were a half-life nerd back in the day, that applies to stuff like Action Half-life and The Specialists and The Opera Mod. Man..memory lane

Yooo! I remember downloading a lot of crazy stuff from FPS Banana and other such sites. The amount of excellent, creative stuff you could get for both Half-Life and CS was mind-blowing.

Did you hear that they turned the house from Gone Home into a map for Counter-Strike? XD

Planet Half-Life! I hadn't heard that name in agesssss.

I remember taking the phone line hostage just to see if I could download bots or something. It seems that every single site I visited back then is either dead or abandoned.

Good times, man.

Haha oh man! Or downloading maps and..*gasp* skins you didn't have to pay for?

Isn't that just Gun Game? I think it might be Arms Race too, I kind of recall what you're saying but I can only come up with that. Sadly most my experience with CS boils down to old Zombie maps on CS 1.6 and those snow maps on 1.6 where all the guns would be available to everyone and it was just a big shoot out. Oh and you know, good old parkour maps.
