I get why some people don't like Reach, but I fucked with it too. I really liked the campaign personally, but I'm a sucker for that kind of 'facing inevitable defeat, everything's falling apart around you' kinda schtick. I can see why people criticize the multiplayer aspect though, it was the game that first introduced the pretty broken DMR and the CoD style loadouts. It didn't bother me personally but I never played it that seriously.

I didn't really tune into the wider world's opinion of Reach. I just played it thanks to a non-gamer friend really excitedly recommending the campaign to me. We played it through and loved it. It was cheesy shlock in all the best ways. And then a few years later I had a tonne of fun playing the deathmatch modes with a bunch of friends. The DMR was a great leveller and made it so that anyone could come out on top. Just a blast from start to finish.

It was also the last multiplayer game I played before what felt like a 5+ year long drought of no couch co-op/multiplayer games came into effect.

Yeah I'm contemplating freeing up some space on my hard drive to also play through some Halo when I get home, I'd love to go through Reach and ODST's campaigns again.

No. You can never do wrong by playing ODST.

ODST takes place in the middle of Halo 2. You can play ODST regardless.

I felt the story pacing in 3 dragged a little. The levels weren't quite as fun or memorable overall as in the other games. My favourite thing about Halo 3 is searching for the skulls and Forge for multiplayer.

It is still a great game though.

you can't possibly say that with The Ark, The Covenant and Halo closing this game in the most bombastic way possible. I won't shoot you, but you will play this game again in Heroic.

Can't get the game to work, it keeps sending me through some sign-in loop.
I did what people suggested online and deleted the related files in the credential manager, but it just gives me a gray box and sometimes says it failed to log me in.

I'd play the Xbox version but I don't have gamepass right now so I'm stuck with this thing. Not sure how to fix it though...

The hardest parts of any of the games for me was Halo 1's The Library (RIP if you don't have a shotgun), and the bridge + everything after the high snow plateau in Two Betrayals. So brutal.

Also, the level in Halo 2 that starts with the two storey moving platform teeming with Flood was nails, and one of the final Arbiter levels with tonnes of Berserkers.

I'll just keep the game installed for a bit but step away from this sign-in business for tonight to save me the headache, maybe it'll sort itself out.

I'm glad to see the discourse surrounding the Halo games is still as healthy, balanced and level-headed as it ever was.

Also, OG Halo good, Halo MCC now good, Halo in UE5 probably good too.

I had this same issue. I had to go through the polava of resetting my password for an ancient Xbox Live account I hadn't used in years using my mobile phone and linking it to an outlook email or some bull. Even after following all the steps, it didn't seem to work, but then I closed the game and tried again an hour or so later, and voila, it magically let me in.

Pretty naff obstacle to have to hurdle just to start playing, but once you're in, you're in.

Did the first two levels in ODST. If this is what Heroic is I can probably manage just fine, but I always forget how much you have to pump the enemies full of lead in these games lol, I'm a burst-fire andy normally.
