Howdy,

I played some Guitar Hero and Frets on Fire a decade ago, but this game blew my mind:
https://retrogametalk.com/repository/nes-roms/dpad-hero-2-homebrew-nes/

It is simple... simply amazing, and coop mode is absolute blast.

Some forum user made a term for the genre "Guitarvania", I love it.
Just all those GH/Rock Band rhythm games for PS2 are a bit bloated with fancy graphics, demanding powerful hardware and require a guitar controller to really get into it fully...

So I wonder now, is there more retro or newer homebrew games like that, which focus to play on regular gamepad for 2 players coop?

Or maybe somebody could recommend where to download ready to use fresh FoF or FoFiX archive with various mods and songs.
Back in the days I found some cool torrents, but it was lost in time warp. Thanks!

Check out Clone Hero and YARG, you won't be disappointed.

This.

I've started mapping drum songs with CloneHero from MIDI drums. From that point I could export the song to pretty much every other rythm games out there, even VR games like Beat Saber.

Wow, this the first time I hear about Clone Hero, looks very promising. Thank you!
But the question remains, where to find all-in-one packs for it?
Like some themed one with coop songs from Guitar Hero/Rock Band let's say.

I tried to search the web and got confused.

Google for "CloneHero chorus encore", you'll find everything you need there.
