This is a different game with the same name since both were based on the same movie, but obviously Activision made it because of the sucesss of the N64 game.
The first stage (the dam) has the first area 1:1 to the N64 as a homage, but the layout changes midway through the stage and them the whole game follows a different path.
Characters are played by different actors and the whole plot was updates so the story happens in 2010-ish instead of 1995.
Gameplay is basically CoD from that era. That's pretty much it.
Word is that the online was a blast back in the day and the gamefaqs forums kinda show this. You can still play online using Wimmfi but I think you can't unlock new weapons so it's just basic stuff.
My memory of both "versions" is pretty spotty, but as I recall, they feel like very different games from each other. I believe the levels in both games' singleplayer and multiplayer modes are completely different, given that the Wii one launched with online multiplayer, necessitating maps for larger groups of players. They also used Daniel Craig's version of 007 instead of the original actor, which reinforced the major vibe shift from the original. It's a little difficult to compare them overall, since they feel pretty fundamentally different from each other.
I just finished First Light. The high review scores were most certainly deserved. Fantastic game. It has ultimately got me thinking on revisiting the older games.

It kills me I didn't keep my save file for this game, it was actually a pretty good first person shooter, this was also my first online multiplayer game for shooters before I transitioned to the critically acclaimed Call of Duty series.
Solid game. Good COD-like controls (which the COD games perfected and were surprisingly great on Wii too). I'm not sure how one can find them bad other than maybe the customizability being a bit daunting and messing something up (but you could just revert to and use the presets and not care too much in that case). Idk.
This guy had good gameplay videos of all these FPS games on Wii. Mostly online multiplayer though, no campaigns. He had a few tutorials here and there or explanations of his exact setup and how/why it works well in action if you search.
Later games also supported the Classic Controller (with a couple caveats compared to other systems due to the lack of L3/R3 on those controllers) but eh, the Wii + nunchuck rock for them. Of course they're 30 (ish) fps games rather than Prime's (and Red Steel 2's) smooth af 60fps but they were miracle ports to even happen really (and keep happening).
But yeah, WaW, Black Ops, MW, MW3 are all pretty dang great on the little Wii.
