I think it's best to take into account the timing of the game's development and release. SEGA were all over the place with the Mega-CD/32X/Mega Drive/Master System/Nomad/Game Gear... Their priorities/output was erratic at best.

I know. Sega basically screwed themselves over and made so many stupid decisions. You had SOA and SOJ arguing with each other constantly (Just look at the history of SOR2 and how SOA nearly fucked it all up), You had the creation of the 32x because SOJ feared the Jaguar of all things, You had the abandonment of the MegaCD etc etc.

I will always love the Mega Drive and other Sega consoles I grew up with but holy shit Sega have to be the biggest dumb asses that had literally gold in their hands and replaced it with shit due to extremely bad decision making.

Golden Axe deserves better, alot of Segas IPs deserve better.

I've never understood how Sega screwed the pooch with GA3 so much. They had 1 which was a classic, 2 which was a huge improvement but then 3 comes along and ruins everything. Instead of everything being better it's oddly worse.

We're Sega trying to kill the series off on purpose?

The Redux Hack by Billy Games is also pretty good. It has less features but rebalanced damage for the heroes and no block for the enemies, which I think is way better

GA3 is terribly unsung. I think it's quite great in many ways.
