It is not exactly user friendly, I literally have used emulators that run in freaking DOS that are easier to use and configure.

I struggled with it too, a lot! but after learning some essential stuff it became my fav. emulator. Give it chance, you wont regret it

It's true that it takes much getting used to with the UI. Though you can change the menu screen types for more simplicity, There's just so many settings to read through just to change and set the ones you want.

I got used to Retroarch cause it streamlines playing all different games from retro consoles with quality of life improvements. I can switch cores and get different results if one doesn't perform well and so fourth.
Same, I get it can be intimidating to some but I got used to it quick and it became my favorite emulator.

But I hate RetroArch, also when you have weak hardware standalone emulators are literary faster.
I certainly agree on that second part, but retroarch is thankfully not that taxing, as long your hardware is decent it should run most retro games at full speed, unlike that pile of garbage bizhawk, now that's an unnecessarily taxing multi-emulator that eats your cpu on a beefy hardware to run a Super Nintendo rom.

A shame that emulator us no longer getting updates.

Anyone else remembers that very accurate Master System emulator that ran in DOS?
But it's now bundled with RetroArch.

Idk if you are aware but some emulators such as GenesisPlus GX has an option to expand GG screen to the SMS aspect, depending on the game this can be very useful as it expands the view screen, I always use it tbh.

Yeah, I played and beat the whole Aleste collection of games on the white GG Micro.
It comes with a magnifier accessory in the shape of a micro CRTV you can attach to it, lay it over the screen, and makes things easier on the eyes. It didn't matter to me, I enjoyed the experience so I played it one way or the other.

There was a youtube user named Revo SEGA 8-Bit (whos YT channel has mysteriously vanished) who is a french guy I spoke to in comments of his videos. One particular video was of him showing a short clip of GG Aleste 3 running the title screen on a SMS years before the conversion hack we know now, with a few glitches indicating that it wasn't fully finished. He said he had a Aleste GG micro he dumped the game from, but the rom was heavily encrypted. So I think that while yes, of course M2 would do that to protect their game, they would also take the chance to enhance the game for their in-house developed emulator, over it's capabilities on an actual Game Gear. After all, they showed themselves demonstrated it on XTwitter running on a Game Gear when they first developed it.

Since I have played both official versions and the Game Gear romdump, not the GG2SMS hack recently released, I strongly believe that there was an additional audio channel for the game supported by their emulator. The rom is missing sounds the official game has and I see no one else talking about this.

Are you talking about the Game Gear Micro? I honestly did not think anybody played those, screen is way too tiny, and you played a bullet hell on that? Respect bro, this is honestly badass.

Also are you saying the Game Gear Micro has a different version? I've not heard about this before and I'm sure most people didn't know about it either in account nobody bothered to play these games on that tiny system, it was only a collectible for show, this is interesting.

I have the Special Edition box complete with the Switch cart and Game Gear Micro release.

Played through the GGM vrsn of GG Aleste 3 with headphones and noticed that the sound quality sounds completely different (in a good way) to the GG rom dump. I played it on Emulators and Analogue pocket FPGA and It sounds like a sound channel is missing from the music, or maybe there was a stereo enhancement, which didn't make it into the rom dump. Left me disappointed that I couldn't enjoy the music and sounds as much due to that.

I haven't tried the GG2SMS hack yet.

man I ripped thru this.. its great! made me happy.. keep in mind when you grab a letter weapon your invincible for a few seconds.. Aleste games are the tits

If you play on a Sega Genesis using the adapter using the pause button is less of a pain.

With the Master System I got used to play next to the thing due to needing to use the pause button and cursing when I hit reset by mistake.

No wonders that nowadays I play using an emulator.
God Bless RetroArch.

Game Gear also has an extra Pause button, that extra button and the higher color pallate are usually the downsides of these GG2SMS ports, some games are very reliant on the Pause button like GG Mega Man, Shinobi, and Tails Adventure.

Played it over on the GG ED, was amazed real hardware could do that with such clean performance.

Will check out this conversion as well on an actual SMS, thanks for uploading it!

Amazing game! So much fun. No b.s., just good gameplay, music and a great challenge. This Master System port was very well made. Thanks a lot.

The Master System has a bigger field of vew that the Game Gear but it has less coloors that rhe Game Gear. Also of course playing on a TV let's you aee more thar making on a Game Gear screen.

This game is amazing, I wonder if the MS has a bigger field of view taking advantage of the bigger TV screen, because the GG version is very small.
