Getting my surprise Nintendo Switch and how it changed my life

Way back in 2017 (when I was only five, Nintendo would change the gaming world with the launch of the Nintendo Switch, the handheld/console or whatever you call it device, both being able to play on tvs and portably on the go.

However I was only five when it came out, just gained consciousness the year before and my only experience with Nintendo or gaming as a whole was the NES classic edition and a black Wii family edition console (which had just broke), not much so I really didn’t care for gaming back then, more of so treated it as a toy to play with during play time.

I didn’t see the value of playing games back then, I was only in kindergarten, why waste time jumping through pipes and stomping on koopas?

Anyways in late or early May of 2017 my mom received a small bonus and what else to do with it then buy a black edition Nintendo Switch!!

I don’t remember much but I do remember me and my sister were sitting on the couch when we saw our moms car pull onto the long driveway (we used to live on a massive hill) and soon into the garage, she opened the garage door holding a GameStop bag and before I knew it my mom was plugging in the switch into the living room tv and soon I me and my sister were playing Mario kart battle mode (me and my sis both sucked at Grand Prix but not any more) battling against each other.

For a while we only had Mario kart but just around the corner was Super Mario Odyssey

Gifted by a relative while I was grounded so I couldn’t play it (before you ask I don’t remember what I was grounded for I forgot) but when I finally could man it changed my life, Jump up Superstar is forever stuck in my brain, really shaped me into the person I’m today and I’m not complaining ever!!!!

And a year later another Mario adventure was around the corner, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, I could only get pass the first world (I sucked a lot) and that’s all I remember, because this was all so long ago so I forgot.

So why not turn it on?
Take a trip down memory lane with me :D
But first of all ima open the box then charge it so here’s the box

Ima try to open the old switch online app

it worked but nothing won’t load anyways looking at all of the software it’s a lot less then my switch oled

Also tried logging into the old eshop but it won’t load :(

Ok so that’s pretty much it, not much and I’m trying to remember more memories about this but I really don’t remember since it was many years ago.

How it changed me

If it wasn’t for the switch then I would of never taken gaming seriously, before I viewed gaming as something to play with during playtime but after the switch entered my life that quickly changed.

I got my first major hyper fixation with Mario Odyssey in 2017, then later Splatoon in 2023.

And I would of never found out about other old consoles if I never looked up Nintendo on Google, some of my oldest memories with the N64, SNES, and GameCube would of never happened, and therefore I would of never found RGT and met all of you amazing people.

You guys have been some of the best people I have ever had the pleasure of talking to!

And to think that I would have never knew you guys or been obsessed with gaming if it weren’t for my mom getting that switch all those years ago, feels so long ago at this point.

Anyways have a wonderful day or night and I will always love you forever Mom -CyberRabbit

I just noticed. I believe he is trying to raise his level by giving reaction to every post, maybe he does not know that is not going to work lol.
Yes, I know, but the real way to raise the level is the more messages you comment, the more messages points you will have.

So, you're liking every message because you're bored? :O
Because I like all the posts and messages of others Because they're very attractive to me regardless of the type of message or publication that is video game or not and I'm a person who likes to value the messages and posts of others for that.

Then you have a lot of work. Do you do this in all other forums you're attending to? seriously, you don't need to show your liking to every single message as a mechanical task because when you really like something the person won't know or won't specially appreciate it as it is something common from you.

It's like you had a girlfriend / boyfriend and were telling every 20 minutes "I love you", after a while it would mean very little because you're saying it all the time :)

Great article, though I’m a SEGA fanboy when I was little I really know how you feel. I started gaming with my cousins with Famicom and for it just nothing but a simple playtime back then. Years gone by my parents bought me a SEGA MegaDrive as a reward for doing well in school, that’s the start of my gaming journey.

this artical makes me feel so old dude oh my gosh no hate from me though I was the resident young guy 10 years ago. this man lived 1 year in a pre gangnam style world that heart breaking

¡Moms rock! For me it happened with the PlayStation back in late 99, my first REAL console, I was almost 10. My family couldn't afford it, but my mother took a credit and bought it for my little sister and I. I'll never forget that day, it was the best day of my life and I can feel the warmth light of those golden memories, through the wall of time, as I get older. All the moments shared with friends and family around it, all the stories and characters, the challenges. I no longer have my console, It broke, and I must have thrown it away. Still that grey box with it's vibration controllers and it's massive library changed not only my life, but the history of digital interactive entertainment itself.
I identify a lot with your post, it throw me back to that day for an instant. Thank you. Keep up that charisma!

Greetings, from Medellín, Colombia.
