Game Description:

Garudius '95 is a Shoot 'Em Up video game published by CO2-PRO and developed by CO2-PRO released on 1995 for the PC-98.

This is a Gradius dōjin fan game done in the style of Gradius III with the same music but is drastically different with custom levels, bosses, and weapons. The game seems to be in all English, so no translation was needed.

Game Controls:

I highly recommend the emulator Neko Project 21/W for playing on Windows. It's the most feature complete emulator for the NEC PC-9801 and is in active development receiving frequent updates. Use this guide for help on how to obtain and configure the emulator.

Note: this game is significantly more enjoyable with a controller. If using NP21W go to Device -> Sound option... -> JoyPad and check Use JoyPad-1 to enable the controller for the game. The checkboxes with letters can be used to switch around the face buttons of the controller (ABXY) and checking POV -> X-Y Axis will switch to using D-Pad instead of Analog (only one can be used at a time and not both Analog and D-Pad)

I run this fine on a Retroid Pocket. I assume the touchscreen overlay would be mapped the same as the default joypad. You can toggle the select button to be F2 or whatever you need for certain games.
I managed to figure out the controls. I didn't realize there were more overlays I was missing. It doesn't run very well in Retroarch though. At least on my phone. It's pretty slow. None of the PC-98 games I've tried seem to work well. That Megami Tenshin game that was posted recently was atrociously slow. It felt like playing it off a real floppy disk.

That might be the screen with the most text in the entire game. A retranslation kind of can't be done since there's no Japanese to go by. I guess it would be more of a grammar correcting rewrite type of situation instead. It's fine as it is, Japanese Engrish like that is charming in a way
Nah, I agree, I just think it's funny to say the game's in English and doesn't need translating when the actual English is incomprehensible. I wouldn't have that text in any other way

Looks than somebody don't know how write "GRADIUS" in the game registry of the 1995 ::eggmanlaugh.
Pretty sure they done that for legal reasons. They wouldn't have been able to distribute the game without getting in trouble with Konami if they straight up called it Gradius '95. In case you didn't notice from the post this is an unofficial fan game and not a version Konami made

Are you sure about that?

I wish I could figure out how to get PC-98 games working on android. There's a bunch that have been posted recently I wouldn't mind trying. I can't figure out how to get a touchscreen keyboard working as a game input device in retroarch though.

Oh this looks cool. I used to play Gradius 3 on the snes a lot when I was a kid. I got past the third level one time I think. I wish I could figure out how to get PC-98 games working on android. Great seeing some PC-98 love! Makes me hopeful for some X68000 games in the future!

I love Gradius and I want to try this one also. I'll keep an eye open for this one. My favourites in the Gradius series is probably Gradius ReBirth on the Wii and Gradius 4 on PS2. Gradius 5 is very cool but quite hard.

Garudius seems much a japanese name for the game indeed, and the GREAT english of the 2nd pic is nice! ::eggmanlaugh
