Gaming nitpicks

One of my biggest pet peeves is when games want to be huge in scale but have so little content to justify having a map that big. I remember playing Dying Light and I immediately started seeing the same sort of rooms and the same loot over and over. Exploration is something I love in games and when it just boils down to seeing the same thing over and over I feel like games are just wasting my time

i hate unskippable tutorials
Unskippable long tutorials have ruined may replays and even some first time play throughs.

My other nitpick is the "first time starting cinematic".

So it means that even with a new game you can no longer have that special one...

This is why they need to bring back the attract mode cutscene! It worked, even on consoles, for a long time.

*tries to bind an action to a key*
"OoooOOOhh you can't bind that key, it's already set for another action!"

This legit makes me want to punch developers in the face

I hate when you can´t skip a cutceen on boss fights so you have to see the boss bloody monologue every time you died.

Also why do bad guys always talk so much ?? Bad guys need to learn from this guy.

I complain openly and loudly about UX/UI all the time I hate my life why can't I just enjoy things (head in my hands) grrrrrrnnnnnnggggggg:
- unnecessary button presses. i don't wanna press 30 buttons to confirm things. was trying out some gfl2 and when setting up a team, it requires 3 or 4 clicks like WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!!! shave it down. you only needed 2. i am the player i am right and i need to be served all the time.
- let me see the stats of my items clearly. please dont obfuscate it just like gimme a number. also let me stack items or sort them or something.
- button color choices for hover/highlight stress me out. please make it very clear when i am clicking something and when i am not. make the colors VERY DIFFERENT and hover better not be grey i wear on all that is holy. grey i the color of deactivation. no activation. make it stop.
- if your save is in a menu, i want to be able to bring it up immediately. i dont wanna click 50 buttons to save. just two (bring up menu -> save) (wala!)
- if you are in a game where you exit a dungeon and need to heal, you should have the healing place available with as few button presses as possible. you shouldnt hafta walk through a maze just to get to your bed. ideally, you should just press up ⬆ out of the dungeon and you can walk right into bed after holding down for a second or so. this is for games where you have like a hub town or something.

so basically i don't wanna press a button ever lol. they're just things that build up over time and really drag down the experience in a way that makes you averse to playing the game you wanna play.
also, we live in the new age visual novels should have history logs and if they have live2d, should have in-built fps caps that dont explode your computer. yes this issue pops up a lot. i dont blame old vns for the log thing cos they just didn't have the systems but the future is now, buddy.

Another one is when the Protagonist has an iconic weapon in all the artwork/promotional material, but said weapon ends up being either dogwater or quickly rendered obsolete in game so you barely use it. OG FF7's Buster Sword comes to mind.

I like the way Castlevania Portrait of Ruin or Fire Emblem Awakening handle it, where the "Hero Weapon" gets an upgrade or 11th hour powerup to make it relevant again.

Same, unleashing the true potential of the base weapon is so satisfying.

I would rather play your game without sound and physics if it means I don't need to sit through 20 seconds of advertising the middle ware you used.

If it has online mode, the short stacks will be everywhere.
Well, I'm guessing that some people are into that.

Maybe it's arguably better than looking too juvenile while still allowing women that are smaller than average to exist..

I wasn't complaining, just making an observation. Besides, I like short stacks as much as any other women.

As for "smaller than average"...
  • the global average height for women is 160cm (5'3" in feet & inches)
  • 70% of all women are 165cm (5'5") or under
  • women in the Philippines and Guatemala have the shortest average height:149.5cm (4'11")
  • Japanese women have an average height of 157.5cm (5'2")
  • American women have an average height of 5'4" (163 cm)
  • European women have an average height of 165cm (5'5")
In other words, women are usually short. Media tends to give people the wrong impression that they are not because cinematographic methods (soapboxing, camera angles, etc) often put short actresses at the same height as their male costars. Likewise, modeling agencies tend not to hire short people, even when casting women. So our outlets for seeing how tall women are outside our own environment tends to be warped.

As for looking too young, I wouldn't consider bra size for that. The worldwide average is B, while it's A in Asia. (It's in the large B to small C range in the US and EU, depending on where you are.)

So ya, the world has a lot of short A/B-cups running around on it. Can't complain about that either.

Size is according to genetics and eating habits (this is why people were smaller centuries ago).

While it's not as true as before yeah, when you check the average adult size in Asia it will be different than Europe or the US.

Regardless of size and mensurations an adult body will still have a specific head-to-body ratio (and will look developed).

I still think some character creation online would limite the minimum size if there are clothes that are too revealing to avoid anyone wanting to make a character that could be ambiguously young.

But it will also be depending on the art style (chibi proportions will have a bigger head and some character could look older than they are like in some animated series).

I don't care about character creation as much in solo games and in online I prefer having a character that will look simple yet cool. We got too many overly designed people around.
