They could have concluded it better with a flashback where you get to trap adel but oh well I guess...

No bro laguna is way too funny to be bad
No way, Laguna is one of the worst characters in Final Fantasy. His whole subplot is a giant waste of time.
besides quistis, he is the best part. he has some dialog implying that he and squall were supposed to chat latter in the game, but due the quick production of the game, it seems that well over 50% of the game was cut out or scrapped. FF8 was supposed to be 8 discs long.
there is no telling what we are missing out on.

That Final Fantasy VIII is just an alternate timeline of Final Fantasy VII. The only difference is that junctioning exists, which makes everyone go mad, causing everything to change besides the protagonist being an edgy swordsman.
final fantasy 8 is, more or less as weird as it sounds, a sequel to final fantasy 3. it's not outright stated but a lot of similarities and a bit of lore seems to confirm this.

I found the characters to be quite memorable it felt the seifer rivalry was cut too short also him getting to live in the end felt BS , XD 8 discs for 8th installment if lets count every disc took around 15-20 hours to beat well that was gonna be a really long game.

Eh, "funny" is a strong statement. Mildly amusing is the best he has to offer. And that is at the cost of constantly interrupting you from experiencing the main quest. The "joke" is that he's a dumb anime hero ala Goku and that's all he has to offer.

Also, wtf is this guy and why does he talk in a weird accent?

This game is awfully written and the people coming up with theories are in denial that a Final Fantasy could be this badly written after FF7/FF6.

Laguna is the real hero of ff8.

I think he speaks in german accent for dr odine that is the writing strongly implies it.

The message of FF8 is that you can be real dumb and thick and still save the world through a ridiculous amount of luck. Great message for the kiddos there.
That's the charm of laguna simple acts of goodwill are paid back one act after another results in him eventually taking on adel without any huge fight breaking out he is goodhearted albeit moron at times.

who knows? there might have been plans for that.
i'll work my way over to 8 at some point, but for right now, quistis and ultimicia are the two characters that i remember the most, and i have 2 versions of laguna's theme music in my collection: an acapella version and a 30 minute extended version.

i must have been on the internet for too long and too much. i read the word "thick" and i thought of the omni man meme image.

i've just done a bit of checking:
final fantasy 8 released feburary 11, 1999 in japan first
final fantasy 7 released january 31, 1997 japan

ff7 started development in 1994
ff8 started development in 1997
i couldn't find any specifics but it seems as 7 was concluding production, 8 started up.
but regardless, that's one hell of a short dev cycle.

Well games used to be made in 2 years what we got as FF8 is pretty decent (strategist resisting the urge to do a navy seal copypaste RN ::eggmanlaugh ) but what would have happened if they cooked it a bit more? Maybe a more balanced difficulty cuz damn one moment an enemy is totally beatable the next you are up against a dragon that 1 shots you

Claire is the most hardcore protagonist in the Resident Evil series. To the point of criminality. Code Veronica's intro has her committing an armed breaking-and-entering of an Umbrella facility on foreign soil, causing thousands in damages and presumably killing a dozen civilian guards. All that could probably be brought up to a terrorism charge in court, considering it was a personal vendetta that brought her there, and how good Umbrella's lawyers must have been for them to stick around that long.

It's taking one of the silliest games in the series (kitty wesker!!!) and reading it way too seriously for its own good, but the thought pops up in my mind from time to time. "Damn. She really did that."

No wonder she calmed down and went into NGO work after the game. She literally got away with murder.

the average tome for nes games was 6 months. 1 -3 years isn't unreasonable.
it just occurred to me to check something, 9 started development alongside 8.
it released the next year and 10 started development at the same time as well.
three games started at the same time, and the ps2 was looming very close, march 4th, 2000.
and 100 people worked on 10. they may have spread themselves too thin and had to finish things up rather quickly to stay on schedule.

Yeah, I mean, I enjoyed the game for what it was but it was clearly rushed when it comes to the gameplay. They clearly didn't fine tune the junction system. And the story needed to be revised by an adult, because it just throws the basics of storytelling out of the window.

Well didn't they remaster it few years ago? They could have expanded upon it and bring back any cut content

you just remeinded me of rabtoon's final fantasy 8 in a nutshell video. i'll link the specific spot.
from this point to about 7:15. i don't know why, but this was the first thing that i thought of when you mentioned galbadia:

They are constantly used by the villains like they do nothing in life but volunteer into an aggressive expansion seeking military force they only make your life harder not to mention their basic infantry has sleep ability which is more hassle to put up with than shin ra infantry or vector soldiers total dumbasses can't defeat a bunch of teenagers what a bunch of losers if 3 kids can nuke an entire missile base manned by a full garrison then yup you are one shitty state.

I think the first disc of FFVIII is quite strong and some of disc 2 is still good. It loses the plot after the orphanage scene. Keeps going downhill with the Laguna stuff and never gets back to the level of the first disc.

As far as a remake, goes, who knows? This game could be seriously improved by one as opposed to FF7.

to be fair, the galbadias didn't really have a chance. the main leader of the party is an anime pretty boy with a scar and a full set of leather clothes with a fur collar and an impractical looking weapon. they were probably either too distracted or jealous to fight efficiently.
its a bold strategy, and it worked perfectly.

In Cyberpunk 2077, T-Bug was secretly working for Yorinobu. She was stalling her hacks to make sure that Jackie and V were still in the room when Yorinobu had his showdown with his father so he could blame the murder on some random thieves. She’s the one who had V and Jackie hide in the server pillar, trapping them with no escape until it was too late. She didn’t actually get put into soulkiller, it was staged so she could get Yorinobu’s payment and enjoy retirement. That’s why you never see her body or meet her in Mikoshi.

Yes disc 1 and 2 are very well rounded the sorceress introduction , the battle vs galbadia garden.

Disc 3 cools things down after 2 built up all that until the end of it I gotta say going into space is pretty cool and the catching rinoa minigame if you call it that the alien monster puzzle and the lunatic pandora chase across esthar are all pretty cool , now getting edea on your side did feel pretty awkward at first I mean she was our enemy for the first 2 discs sadly having her in the team is cut pretty short.

I think disc 4 strength lies in ultimecia castle design when compared to previous final zones its pretty unique and the seal thing can piss you off at first but it checks on how well you can handle yourself when handicapped.

And that along with ultimecia who only makes an appearance in the end while her presence is felt throughout the game was good I went in imagining how she looks and was surprised by her design well the whole boss fight was surprising.

I'm a bit biased towards 8 cuz it was the 2nd 3d installment I played after 5 2d games especially 1 and 2 that barely had a story.

i disagree, i can get loud when i'm angry at something happening in the game i'm playing, it mostly happens in soul calibur, or when i'm hunting for that stupid bird enemy in ffx on the road next to mushroom road. i also laugh when something funny happens, but that mostly happens when i'm listening to the party crashers; which is about 65% of the time.
point is, fuck that stupid bird. had to reset my ps2 6 times to get it to show up.

Treasure Co Ltd games may share the same universe (except licenced games of course).

Perfect Chaos from Sonic Adventure was mentioned in Sonic 3&K docs so I am guessing it retroactively existed in the Classic series.

My baby Klonoa deserves a happy ending, so here we go

Klonoa Heroes is the only game so far without a bittersweet ending, ending unambigously happyly, so my theory is that the past games are nightmares he is having due to feeling inadequate to be a Hero, and each game is he overcoming said fears, in the end Klonoa manages to come on top and uses those experiences to achieve the rank of hero he wanted

i did some checking on perfect chaos, and in universe, it first came into existence about 3,000 years before the games started. i have a link to the wiki with some more info on it.
