I already mentioned in another thread that i do not like Majora's Mask (side quests are unbearable, puzzles are a chore, the fanbase is the most insuferrable kind of Zelda fan and the saving system of the N64 original is shit) and Smash Bros Brawl (crap graphics, wasted potential and awful gameplay balancing), so i will mention games that i like but barely anoyone else does.
-Mega Man and Bass: It's the black sheep of the series due to its questionable design choices. No E-Tanks, limited selection of stages instead of the 8 choices at the start, and the lack of Rush Jet and Rush Coil. I do think this game suffers from lack of accessability (Mega Man games tend to start really hard but get stupid easy at the end due to the player gathering items and weapons)
Despite this understandable complaints (Mostly the E-Tank thing) i find the game enjoyable and i love the presentation, from the much calmer music, the sound design and the graphics which look just amazing on the SNES. I wish Classic Mega Man games stood from each other more aesthetically , outside of 7, 8, 11 and this game they all reuse the same artstyle and makes them feel extremely samey (Mario 1 and 3 on NES look extremely different despite having similar gameplay, only The Lost levels looks the same, and this is without including Mario 2 USA). I also think the "OH MEH GAWD THIS GAYM IS SO HARD" complaints are from the people who beat Mega Man 2 on Normal and spam Metal Blade and use Item 2 on Heat Man stage. I don't think anything in this game outside of King's Castle Stage 2 is as bad as The Doc Robot Stages in 3, a game that i consider the real low point of the series (not counting the GB games, except V that one is kino) and this is coming from someone who played Mega Man 1 since i was 7. I also liked the weapon variety, and they were far more fun than any weapon in 3, 4, and 5. It's also the only game where i like Bass and not make me wanna punch him, if only because his gameplay is so much fun.
-Kingdom Hearts RE:Chain of Memories: Every KH fan makes this game look like the spawn of satan (alongside its GBA counterpart), but i don't know man, i kinda like the Battle Card system and think it was neat, if a little undercooked (especially in Riku's mode). Yes i hate the slow charging and some bosses were far more frustrating as a result (Larxene in particular) but it also meant it was far more challenging than 1, i felt like i had to make actual strategies and pay attention instead of just spamming X like a maniac, it's the only game where we got a FF summon via Cloud, and i enjoyed its story and how it feels like a test of character for Sora, how we witness the start of Riku's redemption Arc, Larxene beign the best OG 13 member (because she is the only OG 13 member to feel like an actual Disney villain you would see in an animated Feature instead of FF expy) and Naminé is best girl, no ifs and buts. My only complaint is the lack of Deep Jungle as i preffered that world over Atlantica and Wonderland and Tarzan is one of my favorite Disney films, so i was sad to see it go and never come back.
-Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance: Once again another Handheld KH game and according to the Numbered series fans, another demon. I do think the game suffers if you play it on Console via the PS4/5 instead of the 3DS, as the game was clearly meant for that system (if only Square ACTUALLY ported DDD to the Switch instead of doing the Cloud BULLSHIT, FUCK CLOUD GAMING I HOPE IT DIES). I like the Dream Eaters, i like that you can customize your party instead of beign forced to just use Donald and Goofy (and/or the obligatory Guest Party Member) and the Link feature is fun, i like Dive mechanic far more than the Gummy Ship, i flowmotion and the sense of agility it gives, and while the story bringing time travel was absolute horseshit, i did unironically enjoy the further developemnt of Riku from his journey of tormented atoner to rightful master of the Keyblade (plus the interaction with Shiki was funny). The Drop mechanic did not bother me at all since i always was packing some Drop-Me-Nots just in case, i loved the Fantasia World and as someone who loved Mickey and the Three Mousekeeters as a child i was happy to see a world based on it (even if having another world based on a Mickey film AND also taking place in France made it EXTREMELY Redundant). For it beign my introduction to the KH it did not turn me away, it made me a fan. If only we got that supposedly scrapped Treasure Planet World.
-Rayman Raving Rabbids for WII: The game sucks ass, i will admit, but the game is geniunly funny to me goddammit. How can you NOT laugh at the idea of trying to score a goal by using a RABBID as the football? or a Rabbid with a plunge on his face getting the sideshow Bob Treatment? or just....this:
Turns out there IS another game i don't like aside from SSBB and MM.
Castlevania Circle of the Moon: Everyone puts it as this forgotten classic while to me i see it as the worst metroidvania aside from Simon's Quest. I don't like that you play as a Whip Wielding Vampire hunter that is not named Belmont or Morris (Schneider at least is a Belmont without the name for some reason) the bosses are a chore (congratulations on Defeating the Zombie Dragons, now you can push boxes), the graphics are stale and bland looking (not to mention playing this in a OG GBA was HELL, which is a problem if you bought this game when it was one of the earliest titles for the platform) the music barely inlcudes any original tracks worth rememing besides Proof of Blood and Awake, and the DSS system. Oh FUCK the DSS system. Such an amazing idea squandered by beign so damn limited. Familiars, different weapons, elemental whips, all of them amazing ideas that end up beign wasted. Why? Because you can only use ONE at a time, meaning that you end up using the most basic and reliable instead of the interesting ones due to practicality. I ended up using the Mandagora+Jupiter and Manticore+Pluto abilities than any Elemental weapon, making for a ver boring experience. There's also the fact that you gain Cards by Griding your ass for minutes if not HOURS adding to the tedium. The fact that you don't get a Store to buy items makes it worse.
