Games you like but everyone else hates and games you don't like but everyone else likes.

Mega Man X7.
Although I enjoy this game just as much as the other MMX games, it's admittedly way more enjoyable to play it with a New Game+ save when all the speed power-up parts are collected since the characters' movement feels initially too slow-paced for a MMX game.
I really dislike how clunky both the Z-Saber and the Special Weapons feel in this game, though. Also, the boss battle against Red is very frustrating with the disorienting bird's eye view camera constantly moving around.
Another true believer in the "Mega Man X7 kinda sucks but it's still pretty interesting" team

Honestly I've never been a big fan of The Elder Scrolls Oblivion.
Honestly? Oblivion is actually a major mechanic step down from the RPG systems that Morrowind provided. Everyone always brings that up, but an interesting bit is that the dialogue and speech systems are sooooo simplistic in it due to everything being voice acted. You couldn't have the dialogue system of Morrowind with something like that.

I'm one of those sickos who loves Oblivion, but I absolutely understand that anyone else would be like "This combat is Dog Shit? Why would anyone put themselves through this it's just traveling through the worst dungeons ever made with a leveling system that actively ruins the game as you level up".

Here is my list:

Games you like but everyone else hates:
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 2006
Ok i understand this game is glitchy as hell, however if you look past the glitches i think it's a fun game. Not on-par as the Adventure games it was trying to mimic but really fun to playthrough nonetheless.
  • Bubsy in: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind
  • Awesome Possum Kicks Dr. Machino's Butt
I know they are cheesy sonic ripoff's and that the one hit kill in bubsy's case is not good but besides that the music is amazing, i like the level design and how bubsy and awesome possum controls.
  • Mega Man and Mega Man 3 for DOS
Besides the janky and the weird level design in 3 and lack of music the games are pretty good not on the same level as the NES games but still a fun runthrough.

  • Mega Man 1-5 on the gameboy
Im surprised people don't like these games since their really solid games again not on the same level as the NES games but they are fun and are solid mega man games on the go.

Games you don't like but everyone else likes:

I did try to get into these all of these games but sadly i couldn't get into. If you love these games that's great i wish i was in your situation lol. Also some are shorter than others this isn't because i didn't explore much of the game's its just because i don't have much to say because most of my feelings for those games are based on surface level expectations i have for what games i want to play.
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Sadly this is a game i could never get into, I think the game can be a bit to confusing at times and is very to mazey for my taste and i always thought Link controlled weirdly.
  • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time.
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
Sadly again games i can't get into, The game goes to slow for my taste and the same issue from the link to the past pretty much applies here.
  • Super Mario Sunshine
This game would be good if it wasn't a 3d mario game. If this was any other platformer series i would consider it decent games. However the standards Super Mario 64 put really hampers this game to be mediocre. Out of all the games i have not liked i REALLLY tried to get into this one the most. Bosses are reused which sucks, level design is extremely basic and simplistic and Mario's moveset is mediocre even F.L.O.O.D controls weirdly.

  • Luigi's Mansion Series
All these games seems more like a tech demo's then a full-on game. The level designs can get very confusing at times and the game gets really repetitive at times. Each of the games didnt really improve on each other And the games are pretty short. If these were pack in titles on their respected system i would think it was good but full-on games is kinda crazy.

  • Metroid and Super Metroid
I like the idea of the open roam aspect of these games however sadly they made the level design is to confusing and a maze leading to nowhere and metroid controlled really weird especially in Super Metroid.

  • Castlevania Symphony Of the Night
This and Super Mario Sunshine are games i tried extremely hard to get into but could not. Maybe its because im not a big fan of metroidvanias or maybe because Im just used to the classic castlevania formula but i could not get into this game at all. The game seems extremely slow especially compared to the games that came before. The game is confusing, even more confusing in my opinion then Castlevania 2. Probably because i'm use to confusing platformers more than confusing metroidvania games. (I like Castlevania 2 tho don't get me wrong.)

This is my list hopefully i don't get flamed ::injured.

Hii, about the Super Mario Sunshine, I think would like a flash fan game called "Super Mario 63", it is 2d pixel art fan game with mecahnics inspired by both super mario 64 and super mario sunshine, the level design is pretty creative and not very linear, with sometimes you have to scaleting the pahse to find the exit, but all things considered a fangame made by fan to thje fans, so it have that in mind, I hope, you like it

Game I hate that everyone else likes:

- Final Fantasy Tactics (SIC)
I tried several times to get into it and it never sticks... I can't put my finger on it but I don't find the gameplay loop that fun. It feels like a less exciting version of XCOM: UFO Defense.

A game that I like that everyone hates is Star Fox Adventures. It's a solid game with a good story and it set the ground for Star Fox Assault a game which is peak Star Fox imo. Idk I think it wasn't a bad direction but I also think Assault was defintly the better evolution of the Star Fox formula.

Something I hate while everyone loves is Tears of the Kingdom it just felt like BotW2 in the worst way possible. It feels more like a retelling of BotW than a sequel the map is barely different, the story is worse than BotW. It also just didn't improve anything from it's predecessor they didn't bother improving the formula they just focused too much on fun which ended up failing because imo the game just isn't fun at all.

Batman: Arkham Origins is quite possibly the best Batman game IMO and I’m so sick of people acting like it’s Sonic Boom or smth for no reason. The bosses, music, story, side missions, they’re all the best the Arkham series has ever done and I love the moody Christmas theming with the whole city being deserted in a snowstorm.

On the other side of the coin I cannot stand collectathons where they focus on gigantic maps where the focus is minigames and gimmicks rather than jumping around to get collectibles. I tried playing DK64 and nearly fell asleep 10 minutes into Jungle Japes because there was just nothing going on with the level design and it felt like I was running around an empty field with a few bananas dropped around.

Same here couldn't get into DK64 or Banjo Kazooie. The 3D Mario games are like the only ones I've enjoyed even then I just think most of them are okay aside from Galaxy but that's probably me being biased.

well, DK64 is kind of a class of its own. there's games that weave all their collectables into the flow of the level well. It is not one of them. Huge, sprawling banana dimension. the los angeles of monkey video games.

I tried several times to get into it and it never sticks... I can't put my finger on it but I don't find the gameplay loop that fun. It feels like a less exciting version of XCOM: UFO Defense.
It's probably because the game doesn't have limited XP like in Xcom and it has a complex class system that doesn't mix well with SRPG.

I like Phoenix Point, yes it has a lot of jank, most of the DLCs suck, and it can be very annoying, but, at the same time, it does so many things i wish more tactical games did, like the free aim, or the horizontal tech tree, or locational damage to disable enemies, or enemy evolution being less intrusive, or less reliance on RNG. Its kind of a must to play with Terror from the Void, once you get some experience in the game.

And, on the other side, i don't like XCOM 2, even though i really liked Enemy Within, XCOM 2 never got me the same way the previous game did, i just see it as a bunch of smoke and mirrors hiding a very mediocre core, i'd rather play Xenonauts or Phoenix Point.

I already mentioned in another thread that i do not like Majora's Mask (side quests are unbearable, puzzles are a chore, the fanbase is the most insuferrable kind of Zelda fan and the saving system of the N64 original is shit) and Smash Bros Brawl (crap graphics, wasted potential and awful gameplay balancing), so i will mention games that i like but barely anoyone else does.

-Mega Man and Bass: It's the black sheep of the series due to its questionable design choices. No E-Tanks, limited selection of stages instead of the 8 choices at the start, and the lack of Rush Jet and Rush Coil. I do think this game suffers from lack of accessability (Mega Man games tend to start really hard but get stupid easy at the end due to the player gathering items and weapons)

Despite this understandable complaints (Mostly the E-Tank thing) i find the game enjoyable and i love the presentation, from the much calmer music, the sound design and the graphics which look just amazing on the SNES. I wish Classic Mega Man games stood from each other more aesthetically , outside of 7, 8, 11 and this game they all reuse the same artstyle and makes them feel extremely samey (Mario 1 and 3 on NES look extremely different despite having similar gameplay, only The Lost levels looks the same, and this is without including Mario 2 USA). I also think the "OH MEH GAWD THIS GAYM IS SO HARD" complaints are from the people who beat Mega Man 2 on Normal and spam Metal Blade and use Item 2 on Heat Man stage. I don't think anything in this game outside of King's Castle Stage 2 is as bad as The Doc Robot Stages in 3, a game that i consider the real low point of the series (not counting the GB games, except V that one is kino) and this is coming from someone who played Mega Man 1 since i was 7. I also liked the weapon variety, and they were far more fun than any weapon in 3, 4, and 5. It's also the only game where i like Bass and not make me wanna punch him, if only because his gameplay is so much fun.

-Kingdom Hearts RE:Chain of Memories: Every KH fan makes this game look like the spawn of satan (alongside its GBA counterpart), but i don't know man, i kinda like the Battle Card system and think it was neat, if a little undercooked (especially in Riku's mode). Yes i hate the slow charging and some bosses were far more frustrating as a result (Larxene in particular) but it also meant it was far more challenging than 1, i felt like i had to make actual strategies and pay attention instead of just spamming X like a maniac, it's the only game where we got a FF summon via Cloud, and i enjoyed its story and how it feels like a test of character for Sora, how we witness the start of Riku's redemption Arc, Larxene beign the best OG 13 member (because she is the only OG 13 member to feel like an actual Disney villain you would see in an animated Feature instead of FF expy) and Naminé is best girl, no ifs and buts. My only complaint is the lack of Deep Jungle as i preffered that world over Atlantica and Wonderland and Tarzan is one of my favorite Disney films, so i was sad to see it go and never come back.

-Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance: Once again another Handheld KH game and according to the Numbered series fans, another demon. I do think the game suffers if you play it on Console via the PS4/5 instead of the 3DS, as the game was clearly meant for that system (if only Square ACTUALLY ported DDD to the Switch instead of doing the Cloud BULLSHIT, FUCK CLOUD GAMING I HOPE IT DIES). I like the Dream Eaters, i like that you can customize your party instead of beign forced to just use Donald and Goofy (and/or the obligatory Guest Party Member) and the Link feature is fun, i like Dive mechanic far more than the Gummy Ship, i flowmotion and the sense of agility it gives, and while the story bringing time travel was absolute horseshit, i did unironically enjoy the further developemnt of Riku from his journey of tormented atoner to rightful master of the Keyblade (plus the interaction with Shiki was funny). The Drop mechanic did not bother me at all since i always was packing some Drop-Me-Nots just in case, i loved the Fantasia World and as someone who loved Mickey and the Three Mousekeeters as a child i was happy to see a world based on it (even if having another world based on a Mickey film AND also taking place in France made it EXTREMELY Redundant). For it beign my introduction to the KH it did not turn me away, it made me a fan. If only we got that supposedly scrapped Treasure Planet World.

-Rayman Raving Rabbids for WII: The game sucks ass, i will admit, but the game is geniunly funny to me goddammit. How can you NOT laugh at the idea of trying to score a goal by using a RABBID as the football? or a Rabbid with a plunge on his face getting the sideshow Bob Treatment? or just....this:

Turns out there IS another game i don't like aside from SSBB and MM.
Castlevania Circle of the Moon: Everyone puts it as this forgotten classic while to me i see it as the worst metroidvania aside from Simon's Quest. I don't like that you play as a Whip Wielding Vampire hunter that is not named Belmont or Morris (Schneider at least is a Belmont without the name for some reason) the bosses are a chore (congratulations on Defeating the Zombie Dragons, now you can push boxes), the graphics are stale and bland looking (not to mention playing this in a OG GBA was HELL, which is a problem if you bought this game when it was one of the earliest titles for the platform) the music barely inlcudes any original tracks worth rememing besides Proof of Blood and Awake, and the DSS system. Oh FUCK the DSS system. Such an amazing idea squandered by beign so damn limited. Familiars, different weapons, elemental whips, all of them amazing ideas that end up beign wasted. Why? Because you can only use ONE at a time, meaning that you end up using the most basic and reliable instead of the interesting ones due to practicality. I ended up using the Mandagora+Jupiter and Manticore+Pluto abilities than any Elemental weapon, making for a ver boring experience. There's also the fact that you gain Cards by Griding your ass for minutes if not HOURS adding to the tedium. The fact that you don't get a Store to buy items makes it worse.

Deadly Towers: I unironically like it. It had major potential and I can look past most of the flaws. I wish it would get a remake. But that will never happen.

Ico: It's one giant escort mission. I hate escort missions. It's a slog room to room and no matter how many times I play I can't get past having to watch my back and Yorda's at the same time while doing some basic block puzzles over and over. Why do people like this game? I just don't understand.

its probably a cold take for me to dislike breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom, but i stand by it

while princess peach showtime is by no means ground breaking or even worth its price tag, i still thoroughly enjoyed playing it for the simple platformer it is. it's probably not as good as the original peach game but i will still remember it fondly
