Games You Finished in 2026

Recently finished River City Ransom Underground on PC, and it was a good game!
My biggest problem (gameplay-wise) with it was the "third act" of the game, it gets a little too hard sometimes with too many strong enemies (that don't drop money), and the game also disables the trains which makes travelling through the city kinda of a pain, but I still liked this game and I'm sad that it's going to be delisted soon ç.ç
Next stop: de Blob 2!

My first credits rolled in 2026 is 'Milano's Odd Job Collection', the Hilltop translation.

Got a C rank, not so hot. Wanna give it another go in a few months.

First game I finished this year was Mega Man 5. I intended on it being the last game I finished in 2025, but that didn't pan out so well. Beating the game on the first day of the year was pretty cool, though.

Another 2-combo of games done.

Yep, that's THAT fighting game that ripped-off so much and shamelessly SF2 that Capcom itself decided to sue Data East for it...and lost.
You know what? The game is not half bad at all! I actually had more fun with it than others (hot take: it's still a better game than Fatal Fury 2 imo).

I played the main arcade mode twice, both with Ray: on easiest to just "taste" the game (and get a little disappointed that the game tells "To Play again in harder difficulty". Wow, not even the character ending? Ok, game...), and hardest. Holy shit, the hardest difficulty.
You punch your opponent? His health lowers a little. The opponent punches you? 2 more and you're done. Which will happens very, very often since they can easily do a move and then grab you right away (Marstorius, rot in hell). Get used to do plenty of continues and retry.

I feel it's still a competent fighting game, especially for the times. But having to commit so much for credits and characters ending? Hell no. I already saw every character ending on YouTube and happy for that. ::angrygenjin
(I guess "hardest" is just for credits, does anyone knows if "hard" is for character endings)?

7/10

This is half a management game and then a skill/lucky road rally one.

I felt very harsh because I perceived it as a OutRun wannabe. Felt initially that the framerate was very choppy, and not enjoyable in a StarFox/Stunt Race FX way.
But it has its own identity and you will feel rewarded by the end of the whole trip. Especially when you basically invest all money on the right part, feeling to have messed up previously but sitll manage to made it through.
While it can be fun it's very punishing for obstables and cars. Like, stupidly unavoidable at moments. And the jumps that inevitably ruin engines, tires and whatever, even if you slow down and return gradually on speed.
Btw was this also one of the Super Famicom launch titles?

Just beat Shinobi: Art of Vengeance on PS 5 a couple of hours ago.

You go to hell, you fucking piece of trash!

Now while I'm on vacation, I can go back and play some other stuff I've been unable to play in a long time.

Big Run was some of my dad's favorite games ever, dude, holy schmoly. Nostalgia just kicked me hard right now lmao

Not sure if it even counts but I finished the Wallace & Gromit DLC for Powerwash Simulator.
Had a great time, but that's not altogether shocking as it's just the base game but with familiar shit to clean up.
A purchase 100% driven by nostalgia, but totally worth it.

Finished activision tennis for atari 2600, I've hit the badge score but sadly I can't get the badge it was a long time ago :loldog

Played 2 or 3 arcade modes of Star Gladiators 1, pretty fun fighting system that I can't remember any game using it after its sequel, than played the "story mode" of bushido balde, fun game but yeah just fun, and finished an arcade run of Soul Edge 1, I fucking love this game

Ok. So first one was short one.

1. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Sega Mega Drive/Genesis Emulator) - 4,5/10
It's really crazy how different this game is on each platform, in virtually every respect, including difficulty level. I decided to play this game on every platform it was released on. This version is easiest.

OK, after this I do want my next ones to be more modern stuff, like the mentioned Lost Planet 1 and Halo Reach (which aren't even that long anyways).

NG Master System was surprisingly really fun and great, easily on pair with the NES trilogy! I say the Game Gear one comes right after. The arcade beat'em up straight to the garbage (although the Black Sabbath and JoJo references were highly appreciated).
Boss fights were definitely much easier than the NES trilogy. There is some bullshit here and there.

Some level design definitely rolled up my eyes. Like this part: if I hadn't the fire protection weapon equipped, I couldn't go through it (no, clinging and moving at the same time doesn't work):

Also I saw this game apparently has more translations?? These are from both the beginning of Chapter 4.

I will wait for NG3 The Ancient Ship of Doom for NES and that recycled Shadow of the Ninja on the NSO and focus on other games, otherwise I'll probably play those two much later this year!

Someone playing this (or the sequel) in 2026? Hell yeah! I had Jump Ultimate Stars (actual a physical copy) before stopping completely with Shounen Jump tie-in games and selling it. Never managed to beat the story since the game was only in japanese and just went with the flow. The sprite work and amount of fanservice was mindblowning to me.

One of my favourite cute them up.

I absolutely love the song version of the first stage theme

Oh, and for the record: I just discovered they did also some anime specials.

Doesn't surprise me considering character design and artstyle screamed production value worth of anime adaptation. Very cute and silly stuff.

I finally finished Donkey Kong Bananza as my first completed Switch 2 game.

Let me tell you this, the game is an absolute treat from start to end. I really had a fun time playing through this game.

main list:
1. ape escape

optional list:
1. civilization v (replay)

from now on i'll be counting games that only borderline count in an optional list and leave it up to binarymessiah whether or not to include them

my post about civ v ended up pretty long, so my exploits will be detailed within the spoiler button for the sake of those who dgaf:

anyway yeah civ v, my first playthrough this year was as bismarck. the barbarian recruiting unique ability was his greatest asset on that particular playthrough, allowing me to eradicate william of orange and keep the whole continent to myself while the 2 other civs had to share one amongst themselves. my large army and bismarck's lowered unit maintenance meant that i could sit it out while riling in mountains of gold, which led me to buying my way to an easy diplomacy victory.

afterwards i decided i'm gonna try to do some achievement hunting, and the rush of conquest made me want to do more war (which is usually not something my playstyle focuses on). thus, i opted to try out wu zetian of china, with the logic that while they had a militarily-focused ability, they also had a unique building that served a completely civilian purpose in the paper maker, providing a much needed boost while i set up my economy and industrial base.

the game got off to a rocky start. my neighbor, gajah mada of indonesia, aggressively settled near me while i scrambled to get at least a few settlers without sacrificing my capital's development and wonder roster, meanwhile miscellaneous quests to the military city-state kept them friendly often enough to provide the bulk of my early army (which wasn't made easy by their hostile nature). it wasn't enough to conquer, but it kept my neighbor off my back. another early blunder was that i failed to secure a religion, allowing indonesia to shoot it's nasty ass religion-nut all over my poor little civ's face. that ended up okay though, at least i could buy pagodas with faith.

feeling claustrophobic pressed up against indonesia on this one peninsula, i decided to settle across a small ocean in an uninhabited bit of viable land that served as a good base to do quests for the ample amount of city-states on that side of the pangaea. this finally led me to claim my first victim: byzantium. at this point my broken-ass unique archer units were already researched and ready for training, the archers' immense power on top of my tech lead made short work of most of their cities, only taking a break in the form of a peace treaty in return for one of byzantium's cities, i took what little they had left soon after.

next was korea. they didn't put up much better of a fight, and were swiftly eliminated. at this point, i only needed to conquer indonesia's capital for a domination victory, and so i did, taking another nearby city of theirs on the same turn for the score cause i overestimated how much firepower i would need to take it, they genuinely only had like 2 or 3 units, both 2 or 3 eras behind.

Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge (GBA version) (the spanish version is named "La Venganza de Grunty")

The first game I finished that isn't a fighting game on this year is fucking Pepsiman... man he is the modern sysyphus

Halfway through Ghostwire Tokyo and Gears of War 4, and finishing the 16bit version of Dragon Quest 3.

main list:
1. ape escape
2. tekken 4 (king, only on easy mode so far)

optional list:
1. civilization v (replay)

from now on i'll be counting games that only borderline count in an optional list and leave it up to binarymessiah whether or not to include them

i wanted to start the series with t1 so that i would better understand the story, but it made me ragequit so hard that i uninstalled it on the spot, no other game has ever done that. so yeah, that's why i picked easy. honestly the fact that the first non-smash fighting game i played with any kind of seriousness was skullgirls probably spoiled me in terms of player guidance because other than that 10-hit combo (that's more like 2 or 4 hits in my hands anyways), i don't really know that many combos or strats. i think i'm gonna try seeing which character's the mix up and which one's the zoner for my next playthrough since i mained fillia and peacock in sg.

edit: nvm normal made me quit, at least it seems much more surmountable than t1's arcade mode

Ok, after doing the Dragon Quest VII Reimagined demo, I returned back on my steps and...well, instead of keeping up with Breath of Fire II or whatever I've mentioned (especially Lost Planet ::booshy), I decided to go after what's easily one of the coolest and best SNES games avaiable in the library. And it's a goddamn shooting gallery that you don't play with the Super Scope, but with your regular controller. You know what's shocking? It plays more perfectly smooth!

I don't think this game gets enough love. There is a remaster on Steam called Wild Guns Reload since.

I have done 12 games already ( which self-embarasses me a little. I'm aware I'm not playing anything that long and committing, but still all mostly intense 💀), but gonna slow down from here with other a bit more modern stuff (last famous words, since I know i have Alisia Dragoon in my next ones).
