Games You Finished in 2025

2 more done, I'm 88 games...will I be able to do 12 (obviously short) ones? Absolutely not. But at this point I'm definitely going after my birthyear.

Hands down of the best and funniest Sega Genesis games of all times. I played the original mode, I will eventually play the arcade one with...well, the actual arcade version. I know it's even much shorter (20 minutes vs 40 of the original exclusive mode from here).
This is how I always imagined Ikari Warriors if it didn't sucked: filled with action, doesn't waste your time, very quick and engaging. Easily a 9/10.

I feel I would have enjoyed this game much better if with a friend, just like I did with the original first title. There are many improvements, especially on the visuals, but I wish the controls could have been less...stiffer? Like, at least dashing by double tapping or something. But whatever, the game itself is still a pretty damn good beat'em up. The annoyance were with some enemies (especially the ninja guy called "Nail") which frustrated me more than I've expected.

#89: I forgot to add Gradius for the NES, which I beat this July. A solid shmup of Konami golden age but not that great. I feel I liked other R-Type games better. Pretty sure I had more fun with Gradius for Game Boy than that. But still an alright game, like a 6/10.

I'm still stuck in the arcade original (which is a completely different game), so I decided to play the ones avaiable on NSO. I did earlier the first NES one as already said, so I got through with this one...twice.
Yep. And all because I thought the normal mode would just be the whole game. But no, it's one of those games that ends like this:

dd2_2-2.png

....so, after another playthrough in Master mode, I'm done. The difficulty seemed basically the same.

Ok, let's cut to the chase: this is better than the arcade. But it's like saying that a burned out pizza is better than a carbonized one.
What I really hated about this game is how it swaps the goddamn punch and kick controls depending on the direction you're facing. Seriously?? It messes up completetely with the brain. Not to mention that the kick goes always on the other side instead of on front.

Of the most modern one I tried Neon and hated it as well. I feel only Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise Of The Dragons will be the only decent one. Hey, at least for me. More power to you if you liked these classic games at the times and you still do nowadays. I'm aware how influential this series is for the beat'em up genre, and it's why I wanted to finish these games at least once out of respect...but I can't lie and say I enjoyed most of them.

4.5/10. Just to say it's better than the second Double Dragon arcade (which is easily a 2/10).

One modern release:
Pokemon Legends Z-A
It was okay. I had to jump on this because I love Kalos. It could have been better, but the new battle system is neat.

One other:
Pokemon Red (Kanto Expansion Pak ROM hack)
I never thought of replaying Pokemon Red for two reasons: how dated it is and how I feel like Kanto Pokemon are shoved in my face too much nowadays. But this ROM hack changed things up enough. I loved that they added Green (the character) as a selection, so I didn't have to play as boring ol' Red. They added a bunch of beta Pokemon, regional forms of Kanto Pokemon from later games, and evolutions of Kanto Pokemon from later games, which made it lot less boring than generic Kanto 151 Pokemon. (Looking at you LG:P/E, which I never bought for this reason among others).

39. armored core: project phantasma
40. armored core nexus (replay, only evolution disc so far)
41. gravoor 20th anniversary
41.5. spore

idk if it counts but i've finally reached the center of the galaxy in spore, one of the games i grew up on, there is no credits sequence and it seems like there are opposing opinions on whether or not it counts as beating the game, so count it if you want to (or just jot me down as 41.5)

looking back, i'd say i did pretty damn good this year. a good mix of old classics and indies, an appropriate amount of erotic games, and one really long game in drakengard (all endings). there's a good chance that i'm not gonna get as many games in next year since i've enrolled into college and i've been getting more into other audiovisual mediums though. anyways, there's some games i'm excited to replay next year, and a notable retro game i'm nearing the end of that might be the real last one of this year, but we'll see. it would make for either a good sendoff or a good start to a year that's bound to be eventful for me.

God, this year's list of games beaten is so huge I leave other games behind. Don't blame me considering I managed to do a full match (and therefore beating) Baseball for the Game Boy this summer. My save state's date confirms that. God, this game was so horrid to play I really forgot about it. I will carefully check the list again.

Ok, by tomorrow I'll wrap up my full list of games beaten in 2025. Yeah, managing to do 100 games (ofc all short ones) was an insane task I wasn't seeing any satisfaction or point, but I'm still managing to get a number I'm feeling very satisfied with. I'll have to decide which game is gonna be the next one, but the final one for sure since I'll play with friends on Discord will be Bomber Man World.

This is one of the most underrated PS1 gems avaible in its immense library. I would love to say it's easily a 8/10. Graphics is pure 2D bliss (which is the reason why this game was treated harshly, at the times...I hated that "must be 3D nowadays" mentality), the soundtrack is enjoyable.
A game hybrid that combined 80% of platforming with 20% of some boss fights as fighting game in a fantasy setting that feels entirely arcadey. You gotta commit its originality.
It's basically "what if a classic SNES game was released on PS1 in 1999".

Things I didn't liked much:
- difficulty spike sometimes too harsh. That final level was no joke with its trials numbered by roman numbers
- the egyptian statue boss fight was torture
- having the final boss as two fighting game rounds was a little disappointing. I would have rather had 1 fighting game, and then a platform final fight.

These kinda made me wanted to lower it to a 7.5/10, but I still am willing to round up to 8/10.

I finished SD Gundam Gaiden Knight Gundam Monogatari 2: Hikari no Kishi. It was a bit easier than the first game, but I kind of enjoyed it a bit more because of it. Just be warned you can snap the game's balance in half with decent amount of grinding.

I'd still recommend it, though and I hope it gets an English patch some day.

I think that's it for me! I work New Year's eve and day so I'm probably calling it for 53 for the year.

Gonna substitute Saya no Uta from the games I've beat this year since, tbh? Having reached the bad ending (which is basically less than half of the game) didn't seemed fair.
Still am in the process of reading the real ending. It kinda feels like playing a game in "Normal" but then the game tells that I should have played in "Hard" for seeing the real ending. Even if with Saya No Uta the credits did rolled with that bad ending.

I will substitute with another one I forgot to add on list of games I've beaten (yep, another one just popped out like a goddamn mushroom):

Oh god, this game was way too long than necessary. It can be addictive when you manage to do good timing, otherwise you keep see the ball do the same movements over and over until you can finally destroy the last block.

I really enjoyed it. Very nice art style, humour and interesting environments. It's short, clocking in at around 3-5 hours. It has very basic turn-based gameplay, with a really limited move set. Mainly you'd play for the story. Which is somewhat limited by the game's length. Still, I had a really good time with it, and would recommend it.

Now that the year has (almost) ended, I think I can finally count:

- Descent Maximum (Descent 2 for the PSX)
- Star Wars - Rogue Squadron 3: Rebel Strike
- Gran Turismo 7 (I even platinum it)
- Halo CE on the Xbox (Like third run of the game tho)
- Monster Hunter Wilds
- Sonic Adventure (DC)
- Crysis 1 - Remastered
- Rainbow Six 1 + Eagle mission (On the DC)

And well, like a bunch of my gacha games events, but they dont count nor will ever end (I would put Girls Frontline, but we only got the first of four ending... professional planing right there).

So 8 games for 2025... I thought they where more, but Im ok with it. A good mix of old and new games

Every game throught the year.

1: Magic Archery
2: Timespliters
3: TMNT: Turtles in Time (arcade)
4: TMNT Arcade
5: Raid Auctus
6: Tower Wizard
7: Fill Up The Hole
8: Keep on Mining!
9: Ai Limit
10: Earth Defence Force 5
11: Gundam Breaker 3 DLC
12: Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2
13: Silent Hill f
14: Mobile Suit Gundam Final Shooting (Arcade)
15: Onimusha Warlords Remaster
16: Yu-Gi-Oh The Scared Cards
17: Yu-Gi-Oh Reshef of Destruction
18: Pokemon Legends Z-A
19: Dynasty Warriors Origins
20: Borderlands 4

No idea if I made it on time but might as well share my list too
I think my average is around 30 games per year, this time it went up thanks to several short ones, including some I hadn't replayed in years.

Done a match for this one. Took 1 hour. I consider it done, alongside also the Game Boy counterpart. Good lord, I'll never touch this ever again.
Just like most of NES black box sports games, this one was funny by how poorly it played.
Baseball isn't a popular sport where I live, and I barely knew the rules thanks to Wii Sports. Swinging felt so scripted (??) since with several rewinds the result was always the same even if I moved or timed differently. I thought I could have gone infinite if I kept scoring with my team. When I went beyond 9 points to one turn, it automatically restarted again. I'm...pretty sure that's not how baseball works. But ok, some few laughs were done (and also some frustration/boredom).
In its day it was pretty decent, though. Computer games of the time were more complex, but when the NES launched this was serviceable, at least. ::cirnoshrug
