This makes 7 games that I finished within a year that I also loved.

Just beat Super Metroid. First time playing. Clear time of 7:16, item rate of 76%. Definitely gonna be a few days to ruminate my thoughts before I can definitively say if it's great or not, but it is remarkably good. Aside from the mandatory path through the hole in the wall you can't see with the X-ray.

I do think Dread is probably better, though.

I managed to complete a few so far!

Pokemon Black 1. A good game, ending was a bit of a battle of attrition but I had plenty of lemonade. Post game felt a bit empty story wise but I've heard v2 expands on it a bit.

Déraciné. First From Software game I've ever finished, tis very chill. Would be nice to see the devs return to varying releases rather than souls souls souls. At least we got Armored Core 6.

Metal Gear Ghost Babel. Failed to complete it back on release due to a tough Metal Gear fight, but I aced it now. Had no idea the story was written by the Kojima himself.

Flower, Sun and Rain. Hehe quirky first half. Huh wut second half. Ending what just happened???

Not counting replays, finally finished Sonic Adventure 2, got through a decent Game Dev Tycoon run, got some closure by finishing up the 2013 Castle of Illusion remake, and then I ended up getting really into Nubby's Number Factory. Imminently, I finish Kirby and the Forgotten Land this week(?).

Just barely managed to force myself to finish the first Great Ace Attorney game. I really have to wonder if this series was even good in the first place, since it was a nightmare of a game. While it's certainly not the worst (that's Layton), it was a terrible time. Clouded Kokoro was so terrible I stopped playing for three years, and I finally got back to it because I forced myself. Only for Unspeakable Story to be very little in substance. The trial in particular was just terrible, with so much being that Naruhodo just refusing to engage with things that he should know already because the script says he's not allowed to bring it up. The summation examinations are also just...not fun. They break the flow of the trial, and appear far too early. Rather than the prosecution trying to close the case too early, it feels like it was made to pad out the game. It also negatively impacts the more serious court tone, with the consistent goofiness feeling like it belongs in the investigation half instead.

Overall, 2/10. The second game needs to be a masterpiece to make up for this. I know it can (even if it will need to come with a warning sign for bad required reading, a la Muv Luv Alternative), but I have my doubts that it will.

I do so adore the soundtrack, though. Here's one of my favorites.

I finished The Touryst today. I played the PC version. I was half of the time very calm and half the time frustrated with the platforming and mini games. The main reason to play this is the visuals and vibe.

+1

11) Halo: Reach (2010, PC) - 3,5/5

For Me in this year were:

King of Fighters '99, The - Millennium Battle (PS1).
Garou: Mark of the Wolves ~ Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves (DC).
Super Bombliss ~ Tetris Blast (GB) (Normal Mode).
Hot Wheels: Burnin' Rubber (GBA).
Hot Wheels: Stunt Track Challenge (PS2) (At least in Bronze 🥉).
Batman Returns (SFC~SNES) (With the help of the patch of the damage doubled against enemies and in easy mode and 7 lives because in normal and 3 lives is impossible for me and you only have 3 continues which limited the replayability of the game).
Batman: The Brave and the Bold: The Video Game (DS, WII) (Although both versions are different).
Sonic CD (Sonic Gems Collection).
Rockman X5 ~ Mega Man X5 (PS1) (In the Improvement Addendum version) (And the Final Battle against Sigma in its 2nd form I found difficult to defeat Because the contact hands deal a lot of damage and even having the armor so it's very unfair to me and all your weapons are useless against its red crystal except for the charged x-buster and it was with the help of the fast charging upgrade chip and without it it would be impossible to defeat it even though it has the 2 sub-tanks and also in Easy Mode because I am bad at playing mega man x).
Rockman 7 ~ Mega Man 7 (SFC~SNES) (In the Restored and Alternate version and with the 2x damage patch as the Easy Mode of mega man anniversary collection and the Wily Capsule 7 Even with the damage doubled it seemed like a final boss nightmare and all its attacks are fast and it doesn't give you time to react by making you deal damage after damage (especially fire and ice that lowers more health) and all its attacks are a mosquito for it because you lower less health and I even had to use all the energy tanks not to lose the Final Battle and thus be able to defeat it at least).
Rockman 10 ~ Mega Man 10 (WII) (In Easy Mode).

I beat Deus Ex Human Revolution. It's actually better than I remember, but that's probably cuz I played on hard mode (uh sorry, "Give Me Deus Ex" mode) and ditched any pretense of stealth to play it like a FPS. Story was alright for a video game but didn't have the intrigue of the first game (I find bioethics kind of boring because we're all going to live in a transhumanist hypercapitalist hellworld regardless of morality). Very cozy cyberpunk vibes though. B+

Sonic 1 Forever, Sonic 2 Absolute, WipeOut Phantom Edition, Flashout 3D and 80's Overdrive
The decomp of the mobile ports of Classic Sonic are really nice.

Do you plan on doing the ones for CD (like Miracle Edition) and 3&K (Angel Island Revisited)? I think I'll probably do them again someday.

Flashout looks like a nice WipeOut style game.

Randomly beat ToeJam & Earl for the first time yesterday. Amazing how easy that game gets once you decide to NOT open all the presents after identifying most of the useful ones. ::eyebrows

Thinking I should give Funkatron a try, but really wanna checkout the Dreamcast beta for Mission to Earth.

1. Mad Max (PS4)
2. RetroRealms Halloween/Ash Vs Evil Dead (Switch)
3. Akimbot (PC)
4. The Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogie's Revenge (PS2)
5. DOOM (2016) (PC)
6. DOOM Eternal (PC)
7. DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods (PC)
8. Shantae: Risky Revolution (GBA)

I've got the Mania Decomp and I've already completed Sonic 3 A.I.R last year.

Flashout was alright, it was free via GOG so I picked it up and completed it. I enjoyed it.

So far in 2025 I finished:

1. Pikmin 3 Deluxe (Switch) - 8,5/10
2. Mappy-Land (NES emulator on Nintendo Switch) - 6/10
3. Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu (Switch) - 7,5/10
4. The Thaumaturge (PC) - 8,5/10
5. Doom (2016) (PC) - 6/10
6. Peter Jackson's King Kong (PS2 emulator) - 8/10
7. Kingdom Come: Deliverance II (PC) - 10/10
8. Horizon: Forbidden West - Complete Edition (PC) - 8,5/10
