Pretty much the title.

I just finished the first Full Metal Alchemist anime and some scenes and arcs shocked me both visually and by the plot twists.

Now I'm in the mood to play some games that makes me to light up a cigarette (I don't smoke) and say "man...", preferably in retro platforms, like until PSX, but PS2 and PS3 works too. I just don't want any really modern game.

And if it was possible, the less spoiler-ish, the better.

First time replying to someone on here, so im sorry if its rough lol

Linda cubed is supposedly like what your saying- I dunno personally because I haven't finished it but it seems pretty good!

Silent hill 1 is often considered not as good as 2 but personally I think it stands next to it pretty damn well.

Metal gear solid 1-3, especially 2. Sons of liberty fucked me up man.

I know these are kinda basic responses but yeah man, if you haven't played these before I highly recommend em. I'd recommend more but this is all I can think of that fits your question, plus my brains kinda fried so ye, have fun and get to pondering bro

Postal 1998. It is just mindless violence in terms of gameplay, but the little bits of story it sprinkles really add up to the experience. As for it being fun... eh. It can get difficult, and it WILL kick your ass. It really depends on if you like difficult games (I do).

I prefer the old (now-free) version of the game than the redux version. I don't want to spoil much, but it changes a part of the original experience that I feel is more impactful than redux's take. It also takes itself more seriously than the redux version.

Undertale's blind neutral run and genocide run, and nomnomnami's games bad endings.

It's the tone shift coming from the player's own actions that shocks me.

Already played Omori, a favorite of mine indeed.
I'd personally say Tales of Berseria (you can get it on Steam or PS3), because there were moments of the game where I did need to take a break for a few days because of the story and stare outside the window like

Berseria of all Tales lol! Well, it is on my Steam wishlist, so I'll wait for a sale and grab it for sure.
Manhunt 1 and 2. ::beer
Classics, played them like 15 years ago tho. Maybe I revisit the first one someday.
Spec Ops The Line is the greatest TPS of all time imo! And yes, this is the kind of fuckery I wanted to be sugested here lol

MGS is a huge delay in my backlog, never played anything than the first one.

Sanabi is on my Steam wishlist, one more game to grab soon.
Danganronpa V3 for me
And of course....nier Replicant
Danganronpa V3 is the only I've never played. Thanks for the suggestion, I'm in a mood for a visual novel. And Nier (and Drakengard) is the kind of game I was thinking when I made this thread lol.

Linda³ Again is on my backlog right now! I didn't know that the game has some shocking content tbh, just downloaded because it's a JRPG (?) in a modern setting.

And Silent Hill, I love them.

I never got into Postal tbh :/ The edgeness by the sake of edgeness by western developers don't really grab my attention. But who knows if I change my mind someday.

I already played Undertale and yes, this game makes me cry everytime.

Certainly

Hmmm, saying as little as possible, it's kind of understated, but Legend of Legaia kind of blindsides the player with some pretty horrifying content. The game is grim but optimistic for a long time and then just wallops the player near the endgame. Specifying the endgame bc you might not wanna play through an entire psx jrpg just for that.

Super Mario Brothers, dude, when you have to save the princess I was shocked what a stellar plot twist!!!

Fire Emblem Genealogy of the Holy War
OIP (1).jpeg

I first played it spoiler-free, and "that part" really caught me off guard.
