Back in August last year, homebrew developer Gasega68K teased his ambitious attempt at bringing F-Zero-style racing to the Mega Drive. Now, the demo is finally here!

This project, titled G-Zero, aims to push the Mega Drive’s hardware to its limits with fast-paced, pseudo-3D racing. It’s not a full game yet, but what’s here is definitely an impressive curiosity for anyone interested in homebrew development or retro-inspired projects.

Check out the gameplay video here:

If you’re curious to give it a spin yourself, you can download the demo here:

What do you guys think? Worth keeping an eye on, or just a neat little experiment?

It's truly impressive! I made a video a few months ago on my channel talking about the Genesis' technical achievements. At the time, this demo had no rivals. It's been a huge step forward for Gasega68K ever since.

I've tried a GBC one but I'll try it.

That's a dumb title: F-Zero is based on and meant to mirror the F-1 racing league. G-Zero means nothing.
G as in Genesis (or Gravity).

For a homebrew game made by Gasega68K (the same one who made the homebrew port of Wolfenstein 3-D on the Mega Drive/Genesis) it looks good.
