Funniest games you've played?

That's a tough one. The first thing that comes to mind is probably Curse of Monkey Island, but I haven't played it in a long time, so I dunno how the humor holds up!

The PS2 Spider-Man 2 game. Literally everyone in that game is ragdolling 24/7 and combined with the goofy ass voice acting and absurd shit like pizza delivery missions and random alien invasions it all feels like a glorified shitpost, the living embodiment of "HOW DO I SHOT WEB"

Total RecaLL for NES (go see the game's credits in the theater n get an extra-life! kinda implies a desperate "please forgive us! we got demoted from devs to part-time janitors at the Acclaim LameGame Shack!! PLZ BELIEVE US". all we needed was JohnnyCab goin nuts over 18 creditz, the goddess of the triple-boob fetish, n a cheap, horribLy implemented voice sample of "SEE U AT THE PARH-TEH RICHTOR!" n then the icing on the cake of this otherwise-unsalvageable atrocity wack take-back! to-store no-Drac game-pak would be if Richtor then transformed into Richter Belmont n Schwarzenegger revealed his true form as Austrian Terminator DracuLa n the lobotomizer artificial ladyvoice says "TWO... WEEKS" - which is about how long it probably took to develop this dubious-legend that should be forgiven n forgotten like a really bad thunderfart with the windows up in a car whilst your friends are tryin to get baked ^_^

Psychonauts is by far the funniest game ive ever played
me and my friend were crying with laughter playing that game
its about a bunch of "special" kids on camp who have psychic powers

Made by Tim Schafer, formerly of Lucasarts fame. He's the king of videogame comedy.

Lots of games that have tried to be 'funny' or 'comedy' games first and foremost have often failed super hard at their goal of actually being funny in my experience.

A recent example (though I feel just a little bad for calling it so) was Sir Whoopass. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1240590/Sir_Whoopass_Immortal_Death/ intolerably painfully unfunny for me, though many others enjoy it. This one really didn't resonate with me and i got through the tutorial before promptly refunding it.

However sometimes it can 'just work' to an extent. I guess personal tastes account for this variation, but a different recent example is Bears in Space https://store.steampowered.com/app/1309620/Bears_In_Space/ which I did find genuinely funny in parts. Still intend to return to this one.

otherwise for games where they weren't created as a 'comedy first and foremost' game, here a couple others i recall:
Disco Elysium has some fucking hilarious moments particularly of failure
Bugsnax had some lines catch me completely offguard and overall toed the line of silly competently
Hypnospace Outlaw is amazing and very funny all throughout if you are of the demographic its style is riffing on
Hitman World of Assassination games are all fucking hilarious imo
Yakuza (all of them) even to someone such as a, crusted old doesn't like that weeb shit-ter, the series completely won me over with its contrast of crime soap opera with anime silly uwu.

lastly Fight of Animals not because it has jokes or comedy in it or anything but because you can play as CROWRILLA vs EGGDOG et al https://store.steampowered.com/app/1160330/Fight_of_Animals/

Duke Nukem Forever is a game that utterly fails to be funny.

Michigan report from hell on ps2 got a ton of laughs from me due to how absurd the game is to play through

Idunno... Conker Bad Fur Day perhaps?
I'll be honest I don't play videogames because I think they're funny, I play them because I am depressed and want to suffer. I'm here for the challenge!

Definitely games from Ron Gilbert and Tim Schafer. Maybe Boogerman when I was a kid. The Stick of Truth was pretty funny and well-written, too.
Post automatically merged:

That and Armed & Dangerous were such good games. I miss that studio. I think the last game I played from them was Infected.

Disco Elysium is on a tier of its own with me. The next tier would probably be comprised of Borderlands and Like a Dragon games probs. The Tales of Vesperia post above almost stole my life though, good god xD

genuinely funny and not just haha funi goat physics (those too are funny)

The Stanley Parable is one of the funniest games I've ever played until it out of nowhere bashes you over the head with a baseball bat of existential cosmic horror.

For all the wrong reasons: Zero Escape. Specifically Zero Time Dilemma. The plot is so out there and arguably pants on head stupid at times that it becomes highly addictive and hilarious to see where things go. 9/9/9 was really good in my opinion, even Virtue's Last Reward had really good moments, but ZTD is like they forgot how to make a video game. If you enjoy watching car crashes then you'll have an amazing time playing ZTD.

South Park Stick of Truth and Randy's alien probe minigame got me laughing in tears.
Playing GTAIV with my buddy trying to get all the stunt jumps on the map while drinking chocoweed, also.

And I love funny point and clicks, although I don't necessarily cry laughing while playing them. Larry, Discworld.
One of the funniest for me is slavjank Paradigm, it's exactly my kind of humor :

I also need to check the Procession to Cavalry series.

ZTD went through a really rough development process. It's a shame. I'd highly suggest playing the first AI game and avoiding Nirvana Initiative like the plague.

GTA talk show radio stations. I did not appreciate them when I was a kid and my English was too poor to understand the jokes but they're laugh out loud funny.
