Level 17

Meanwhile me a Level 97 Knight does nullify your spell ;) With Counter Magic.
Btw what should be the Max Level Cap in the World typical western so kept at 100 or more JRPG like so 999 ?
What's the level cap in Disgaea?
...There  is a level cap in that game, right? ::nervous-prinny

Okay do you upcast your counterspell? You'll have to upcast it as a 9th level spell. I'm pretty sure knights are only half-casters at most.
Well would a level 97 Knight who is also Captain of the Knights not have High Level armor and Magical Artifacts to counter most Magic.so only a really high Level spell would damage me at that Point so a Mage at the level of 80 would be necessary to Damage me at that point or not ?

Happened to me too, I was at almost 2,000 posts and then it went down to like 1,500 somehow and I considered leaving the forum because of it.

There needs to be some fungus among us because fungi are really goddamn cool and I don't think their true potential is being harvested for fantasy purposes.

Warning: Incoming mushroom nerd babble

I know TLOU did the cordyceps fungi but that's only one type in an entire universe of diverse fungi. The ones I want to focus on for the purpose of this fantasy world are the various types that form mycorrhizal associations with plant materials, e.g. fly amanita a.k.a. the Super Mario mushroom.

To summarize, a mycorrhizal association is when a fungus colonizes the root system of a plant, not to hurt it but to engage in mutually beneficial nutrient exchange and soil conditioning. Plants that partake in this association are healthier than their non-colonized peers because they have access to nutrients that their root systems would normally be too large and inefficient to reach. Fungi, on the other hand, have thin, hair-like root equivalents that can reach these nutrient sources and will trade them to its plant host for the nutrients the fungus lacks.

In old growth forests, these mycorrhizal systems can span for miles. Mycorrhiza from different tree root system mingle and connect, creating multi-tree networks where susbstances like nutients, chemical messages, and even toxins are sent to and fro. Two really interesting examples come from the book The Hidden Life of Trees: one invloves a stump that remained alive due to the nutrient transfers coming in from its neighbors; the other involves a healthy but invasive tree that slowly withered away due to the native trees bombing it with toxins through the fungal network.

Trees be having drama.

So how does this fit into the fantasy world?

Since we already have a race of artificial wood golems, there are a few options:

  • A intentionally installed, region wide fungal network that Holzlings can connect to and disconnect from at will, discovered by human botanists and utilized by the masses. Anything chemical can be transmitted, including messages that only the Holzlings understand (it's not like the messages are being transmitted in any humanoid language). A Holzling that is in contact with soil can send warning messages to any other connected Holzling. If someone decides to cause trouble in one area of the region, running to another part is not a guarantee of safety. The Holzling borg already knows what you look like, what you did and are going to tell their human masters about it.
  • An unintentially installed fungal network by either a third-party or a sapient fungal race without human knowledge or consent. Holzlings can be hijacked during their resting period due to their immobility. A hijacked Holzling can act as a spy, thief, assassin, etc depending on the intentions of the third-party/fungal creature.
  • Cross-species fungal network: the fungus can colonize living beings as well as artificial constructs made of natural materials (FYI, around 50 percent of the human population has fungi colonizing their lower intestines: the Candida albicans). The fungal network allows communication between species at distances that are normally prohibitive but this is considered a highly controversial method of interaction. Although the fungus is harmless and actually benefits its hosts, their is a lot of public anxiety over the thought of having one's body "invaded" by another species.
I could come up with more stuff but this post is already too long. Feedback is appreciated.

Considering that it is supposed to be a quite Alien world for us its a great Idea.We could create a Humanoid Race of Mushroom people that life in peace with nature.where they are also deeply connected to the trees.I also would not connect them with a Holzling as they can't be hijacked. But the Mushroom people Idea is great. They also could connect talk with the trees that could warn them of incomming dangers. But that is just a Idea

Well here are some Concepts we could either make them more Human Looking or Completely non Human Looking I am not decided on that yet.
Mushroom Human 1.jpg

Semi Human Version
Mushroom Human2.jpg

Non Human Version
Amira the Mushroom Woman.jpg

Waifu....em I meant the More Human Version
So wich one would you Chose ?
also we could call the Race Pilzling.
I also would give them a Peaceful Nature
and a Immunity to Poison.
With a Lax and Easy going Personality.
And they could act as Healers and Guides trough the thick forest.

Maybe we should settle on maps first I like the concept of humans so far as not the top species and learning to live but these are pretty grand. Like a few hundred years here. So is the nation isolated by geographic strategic planning so humans could thrive or did they kill everything in radius and grew outward?

I Have a Couple of Maps that I made, but I am not sure if I should settle on them.
Well I am not sure if they should be Canon yet.I would go for them unless someone comes up with a better world Map.
Besides Humaria and Alteria the Names of the Nations are not yet set.
The World of Regotia.png
Regotia Nations Template.png
Regotia Nations.png

And Regarding how Humans are in this World.I would say we are on a Defensive Mode as we would have neither the strength nor the numbers for a large scale war.We do have the Holzlinge to fill our ranks wich make up most of the Armed Forces. We are Allied with the High Elves of Alteria though. We have a Okayish Relationship with the Pilzlinge and we have Hostile Relationship with the Orcish Kingdoms and some Tribes that are still on out Continent from the Great war.As we don't have the force for a open conflict.I would say that we use Hit and Run tactics and we have many Defensive Plans.
Geographic:We are Protected by a Large thick forest to the North and Mountains to the West, the east though is Mostly open Plains.
The Continent that we Life in is Called Indrasil. The Continent South is Called Unerland.and the Continent to the West is called Wedoria. Its quite Clear that I am not quite finished yet,
And Regarding our Hostile Relationship to the Orcish Kingdoms its not to dire for us,as they also battle each other for Power and Glory wich greatly weakens them.

Ah! I was just a bit confused with the city city images those would be something like a 600 yr of development so I wondered just how long humans might be been going on in this world. I had Rocs that came in two variants a terrestrial version of giant eagles and ostrich, hardy, that ran across the fields of a peninsula towards the south and live in colonies and usually aren't slow enough to be caught as adults. On the same peninsula another variant a flying variant that makes it home near the cliffs of the coast. As their bodies are huge they're greatly depends on the high winds of the coast to be their teaching grounds when young. Maybe a few humans that left the fringes of society came to this new frontier to build and claim land and must either be pray for these monstrous birds that came and take them up in the air and toss them over the cliffs to dive back and eat the what left or are trampled in plains as they try tilling the earth or learn to tame the beasts.

Hm I would probably say about 700 to 800 Years since Humans arrived. So that they got somewhat used to this world, and having there own Mages and Knight Orders.Well and the Eagle Idea Sound quite Interesting and I would be on board with that.I would say they would be more in the North of the Continent where there are more Mountains,or we could place them on a Completely different Continent.I also don't want to lean to much on the Generic Fantasy tropes (Besides Elves and Orcs) as I want this world to feel truly Alien to us Humans to make it very clear that this world was not build with us in mind.I would also say the world becomes more Strange and outright Hostile for Human habitation the further we move away from Humaria,so the First Continent should be the easiest for us to settle down, and the Western one should be Medium Hard while the South should be Hellish for us Humans. But those are just some Ideas.I also have some lore Content on this World in my Profile Posts.

Update Update.I have a Fantasy Race Idea the Yaxbal (Lizardman)
They are a Humanoid Lizard People distrusting of Outsiders and Highly Suspicious and they life by a Code of Honor, wich means they are expected to serve the one who saved there life.
Habitat:Swamps,and Highly Poisonous Swamps,and Jungle
Resistance:100% to Poison,50% Disease Resistance.
Weak to:Frost/Ice
Capital City:Nohb'ulha
Here are some Concepts:
Lizardman 2.jpg

The more Reptile Version
Lizardia.jpg

The More Humanoid Version.
I am not sure wich I settle on yet.
Society:Contrary to the Pictures the Normally wear Mayan Inspired Clothes and Armor.there Culture is Inspired by the Old Maya and Other Native American Cultures, they are Ruled by a High Priest and the are always eager for Knowledge they look down on Ignorance and Stupidity, they also have a Warrior Culture but more one of Elegance and Style and less of brutish head bashing, they drive in there Jungles and Poison Swamps where they build several Great Cities. The Rarely let outsiders into there Nation so getting let in should be seen as a Privilege they are also very Isolationist and they guard there Borders and Independence Fiercely, but no one would be foolish enough trying to Invade them not more than once at least.
They are Very Distantly related to the Extinct Dragons (or Believed to be Extinct Dragons)
Characteristics:Isolationist,Honorable,Calculating.

Deep underneath the castle tombs, far below the catacombs of Humaria, a psychopathic Lich is creating his mad skeleton army using the bones of royal guards, soldiers and anything he can get his evil hands on in the catacombs and the deep spiral stairs leading to the very depths of the Earth.

Great Idea the plot could be that he was the Original King of Humaria that was taken down as he was a Tyrannical King, but he survived trough Dark Magic, and retreated deep into the darkest deeps of Humaria plotting his Revenge against all of Humanity by building a Large Undead Army and waiting for his Time to Strike.
The Quest Would be timed you have a certain Amount of Weeks to gather all the clues and find his hideout and destroy him before he unleashes his Army and Completes his Plan. This Quest should be Late Game as its supposed to be difficult with many ways to fail the Mission, but that is just my Idea

I see it as an old advisor from an old era of the kingdom, who slowly build his army to reclaim his stolen land and pride from those who conquered what is now.

Very deep in the depths could have rare monsters or ancient demons from a forgotten age. Stuff that should be told in fairy tales. But thats farther down the depths. Probably locked by a huge door or gate.

I can see that Especially considering the lore that this was once part of the Elvish Kingdom that was given to the Humans what we now call Humaria, and the Lich was a salty High Elf that ruled overs this Territory and he also was a Adviser for the Elven King, and he felt betrayed by this act and he naturally refused to follow those orders, ending with his resistance and ultimate execution or so they thought,as he Survived turning himself into a Lich with a hatred for Humans and biding his Time, filling his domain with Undeads and Demons, and a large amount of Treasure from his Old days as a Advisor, and to open the Large Gate where its hidden you either need a Powerful Mage in your Party to break the Seal or you need to Defeat the Lich wich also would break the Seal.Naturally the area would be full of traps and Ancient Magic.
Or he could just have been a Human Advisor who was hungry for Power Planning to betray his King but was discovered and was able to flee where he planned his revenge and his Greed and Bitterness lead him to the way of Necromancy turning him into an Lich.

Oh for the Context here is some of the Lore brought to you by a High Elven Historian:

Regotia Short Lore:

Humans now In a Minority :

The Holzling:

I wanted to try flexing my Ai skills but I'm still learning. Reduced size like 60%. Bottom last 2 images are my mainstay ideas.

Bird is monstrous in size but probably not as dramatic in size difference maybe human head comes up to chest in true side by side comparison. Bird has a long neck but otherwise functions like our hawks, 1-2 eggs per nest, lay eggs on the ground as of the lack of trees that can support it. They hunt everything from wild rodents the size of piglets to deer and can stand and fight if needed to face plains hyena or lions. Natural home on wild plains of a peninsula to the south, close to the high costal cliffs but the nest is on costal plain and dry grass, usually mate for life as one parent will guard the nest at all times until chicks start to fly with help from heavy coast winds.
