Foods you hate?

Anything that's bitter.
So something I've never understood that I feel this applies to. How do people drink straight black coffee? Like... I've met a lot of people who actually love how it tastes... but like...

It depends on the quality of the brew. Is it instant, or some cheap brand like Folgers? Then you should not drink it black. Ditto if the machine/device was not cleaned thoroughly, as that will give a semi-instant flavor to it. But if it's a high quality single source freshly ground coffee properly prepared with a clean device, then it can work black.

But isn't it just like... pure bitterness? I can't say I've ever had notably good quality black coffee but I just cannot picture it being anything other than pure death.

Canned creamy spinach. Had it once as a kid, threw up, and have hated it ever since. Tried it again a few years ago and had the same reaction, I think it's a texture thing. Love fresh baby spinach leaves though.

No the real stuff is quite good.

Black's the only way I like mine. A good coffee stands on its own. Cream and sugar's fine if you're making do with cheap coffee, however.

I'll have to try it sometime, then. Only black coffee I've ever tasted were most likely all instant.

Instant coffee is a VERY different beast from a good freshly ground coffee. I would encourage you to not write off black coffee if you didn't like instant, I don't care for it straight either.

Hopefully you've opened me up to something new that I've just neglected. A lot of my favorite things end up put off for years that way...

Depends on how you make it. There are methods of reducing bitterness. Maybe you should try cold brew from a reputable coffee shop; a lot of people enjoy it that way. You'll even have the option to add cream & sugar after if you don't like it.

If your coffee was the "just add hot water" type, with no device used to make it, then it was instant. (There's also the possibly that you tried that with normal grounds, which would be a huge mistake.) Anything bought at a coffee shop would not be instant, as they can't convince the public to pay the mark-up for something they can make themselves at home with little effort.

Instant will never be good black because it is literally leftover coffee. Or more precisely, it's coffee that was made, then crystalized so it can be added to hot water. So it tastes worse because you are not drinking a fresh cup.

Canned creamy spinach.
It comes in a can??!?!

I will not eat grits. Any other type of warm cereal is fine but grits is right out. All it takes is one lump and I will projectile vomit like that chick from The Exorcist.

Another thing to note when looking for a coffee shop: if you don't know the reputation, check where they source their beans from. I've found there's a general rule for determining the quality you'll get there based on how rare the beans they have are:

Colombian/Central American < Brazilian/South American < Indonesian/Sumatra < Vietnamese/Mainland Asian < Ethiopian/African

This is NOT a scale of quality (pitchforks down, Latin America), but a scale of how much effort the shop makes to import quality beans. The more to the right, the more effort they are taking to get quality beans from any countries they serve, as the latter are harder to import. So a really good shop could have both Ethiopian and Colombian, and likely has really good stuff from both countries. (Do note that the flavor will vary based on which of those sources you choose. For most people in Western countries, you could possibly consider that a difficulty order from easiest to hardest, left to right.)

Note: I know Colombia isn't in Central American, if anyone interpreted that from what I wrote.

I absolutely cannot stand other people's spaghetti. Especially:

1). Spaghetti that resembles the photo above.

2). Other people's leftover spaghetti.

3). School cafeteria spaghetti.

4). Spaghetti served at social gatherings.

Nope, can't do it. Won't do it. You can't make me! ?

I've eaten inedible things before, but I still don't like carrot.
I will eat it, sure, but that ain't mean I like it.

Do you enjoy pasta when you make it your way, or just not feel it as a whole?

it literally taste like italian throwup

That's incredible.

About a week ago I got a fruit cup from the cafeteria and realized it came with honey melon. I thought about how I only had that fruit when I was a kid and hated it. I figured my tasted had aged since then and it was worth a shot. It tasted so bad I vomited, like bile came through my throat. So if there is any food I hate, it's probably that. Been hating it for decades now.

Honeydew and cantaloupe are the freakin worst. And just like you, I hated it as a kid, thought I'd try it as an adult. Nope. Still gag when it's anywhere near me.

Also, I can't stand coconut which apparently makes me an insane person. Everyone who finds out I don't like it wigs out. The shavings feel like eating sawdust and the taste is also not so great.
