First NON SONIC Sega Game You Played?

I played Deep Scan for a good 20-30 minutes once just to rake up enough extra credits to beat Die Hard Arcade on my friend's Saturn once, so that might be the oldest Sega game I played (Deep Scan is from 1979)... but it wasn't the first.
Underrated game. Making flamethrowers out of lighters and hairspray, the combo with the spike piledriver... good times!

Bad ass. I’ve heard tell of the Phantasy Star Online fandom. Some of the coolest people around tend to come from there, at least from what I’ve seen!
i've only ever played the game in single player for the most part and local co-op a few times. my friend that i played with gave me a mag at level 200 when i first started playing.

A used game store near here actually managed to get a beat up cabinet of that game up and running! It’s not in the best shape, but up until a few weeks ago, it was fully playable and damn was it fun! First time I ever played the game, and knowing it came home almost perfectly on Saturn has me intrigued.

space harrier which i sucked at, years later yakuza 0 forced me to master it

The arcade game runs on slightly modified Saturn-based hardware rather than, say, Model 2, so the port went without saying. I really think it was the one great early 3D brawler during that awkward time period when 2D beat-'em-ups had fallen out of favor (magazines were hating on them hard by the mid-'90s, as were many gamers) and before character action games, Musou, or the many PS2 hack-n-slashes came around and kind of took the torch. Fighting Force is okay, but it's not at all on the same level.

Okay, I don't remember which one specifically but it was either Choplifter, or the maze game game that was built into the SMS. It was a million years ago so the part I remember was playing them both while sitting on the floor in my best friends mothers room having to tilt my head up really far because the TV was mounted up near the ceiling so it wasn't blocking the bathroom.

Sore neck but good times :)

If we go by arcade games then it's likely any of various games I begged my mom to give me a quarter for when I was too young to remember. So probably Pac-Man or Centipede because the track ball was neat.

For home gaming I believe it was this:

My cousin had several of these and would let me play them. I thought it was awesome that you could have something this amazing to play at home. I played this in the mid 80s so it was a few years before Game Boy. It's crazy how easily we were amused back then. But the way tech was jumping in quality was far more interesting. These days it's barely noticeable in comparison and honestly doesn't make enough difference for me to care.

Now if we are getting into home consoles themselves my first played game would be Duck Hunt. I clearly remember that. My first NonSon from the Sonic era was likely Mario World. On Genesis I'm thinking Altered Beast.

My mans is living in a world where SEGA and Nintendo are one and the same. And also Namco is a part of them too.

I appreciate the stories though! It’s still well written enough and I’ve always wanted one of those tabletop arcade games. They’re just so expensive to get one in good nick now, thanks to them aging somewhat poorly.

Billy Hatcher was the first non-sonic Sega game I played. Was a huge fan of Sonic Adventure 2 Battle as a kid, and I remember my cousin told me Sonic Team were making a new game called Billy Hatcher. Lo and behold, when I eventually got my hands on it, that game became my new childhood obsession at the time.
