I would like to play it but since I'm on console and it's a MMO I don't think I ever will sadly
It's one of the MMOs that's specifically designed to work well on consoles, so it's definitely doable. Controller is pretty comfy in it too for the mostpart. One of my raidleaders (the small time frame that I tried raiding) used to play on PS4 so I'd assume it works on the more hardcore content too.

It's the paying twice to play the console part 😅

Not sure what you mean by this statement, but since you seemed confuse by it:

- It's all free from ARR to Stormblood (post-game included). As they said already: you can just keep until there, and won't ever need to pay a single cent. But, if you want to keep it up: you have to pay the expansion (it was discounted during this christmas for 17 bucks, which IMO is good enough) which then starts the monthly subscription.
- unfortunately, if you want to switch console (Xbox, PS4/PS5 or PC) you need to buy the platform you wish to keep up (from here). Which, yeah, does sucks as much as the monthly subscription.

It doesn't require monthly payment like wow ? ( I thought every MMO did that )
Still you need to pay online on console

Ah dang, that's true, didn't think of that.

So you buy the expansions and you don't need to spend any more money?? ( I'm a bit dumb dumb )
Not for FFXIV.

It's kind of weird. FF14 requires a subscription outside of the Trial, even on console.
The thing is that it doesn't require PS Plus to play, but if you're using PS Plus anyways you're still going to have to pay two fees if you ALSO end up playing FF14 outside of the trial.

That's what I thought, I guess I could play the trial version

Yeah I'd say it's definitely worth a shot if you're curious. The trial is the original game and the first two expansions, it's legit gigantic.

Please, read better what I've said...I'm sure I fairly explained it well.

Start the free trial on console. And stick with only that one (otherwise if you want to change from console to another/PC, unfortunately the subscription will automatically starts).
Afterwards, once you've done Stormblood post-game (which is still tons of hours of content, at least 50+ if you wanna enjoy it for the Main Story Quests alone), you'll decide if to keep up.

You still have 3/5 of the main Final Fantasy XIV story completely for free. Dawntrail is more a new beginning.

But after the free trails ( which I assume is a couple of days ) you'll need to pay

How ? I don't understand why is it free square why do you give this free and charge 20 bucks for PS1 games ::homerscream
Because it's not the full game really. It's a very big free version but still not the full game. It just happens to be a rare very generous thing from Square lol.
The longer you play the more you're going to feel the trial account restraints (maybe), but all in all it's a free version of Final Fantasy 14 that lets you play the main game + 2 expansions which can legitimately last you for hundreds of hours depending on how you go about it.

You can't do stuff like join guilds (or free companies as they're called) or own houses, and there's a cap for gil, common restraints like that.

The only parts of this game that truly feel like a MMO are Eureka and Bozja. Personally, I think these and Palace of The Dead are the best pieces of content this game has to offer

Yeah

I know this is a hot take, but I think that Yoshi P killed a good MMO instead of saving it. Pre-ARR was more of a technical shitfest with some flawed but easily fixable design choices.

And I know its content was than good, but ARR is terrible on its own way as well. When I started playing people always encourage me to finish ARR because it was the "boot camp" for the good stuff.

You should assume stuff less and trust/listen what people are telling you: there is no day-limit for this game when you are in Free Trial.

Sorry for assuming that a free trial doesn't last forever

Well, guess what? In this game it technically does, until you start the sub (to not have any free trial limits/Shadowbringers onwards).
We are telling it to you over and over and seems you're not trusting/paying attention for that, so it's a little jarring. ::sailor-embarrassed
