Similar to this, the time ticking really kills my enjoyment and sense of freedom.I used to play this, until I got tired of paying for a sub every 60 days.
I wish they made more evergreen content instead of introducing some new interesting piece of side content just to have it over and done with, but at this point in the game’s lifespan I understand it’s not how they want to make it, usually. I don’t have any real solution though, just a thing I’m thinking about a lot.I've played and raided since the tail end of Shadowbringers. I really do love this game I just wish it wasn't in such a weird spot right now. I think the game has a lot to offer in terms of present and past stuff (deep dungeons, the new crafting instances are cool, any adventuring forray, mount farming, ultimate raids) but, and it might be because I've been playing for so long or because I think the DT job changes kinda feel really bad, feels really boring.
I still love the game dearly and play it a lot. But man. Hopefully the 8.0 credit card actually pays off.
I imagine evergreen content is incredibly hard to come up with too. Like level cap, level sync, and eventual job changes are three things that make it incredibly hard for anything to even feel evergreen. Even the island they introduced in EW could easily just have the new crafter/gather materia patched in and it would give people incentive to keep up with it currently. I'm really hoping this new deep dungeon with a special difficulty scaling encounter at the end gives more ideas to the team for what evergreen stuff can look like.I wish they made more evergreen content instead of introducing some new interesting piece of side content just to have it over and done with, but at this point in the game’s lifespan I understand it’s not how they want to make it, usually. Planning on doing the DT post-launch story soon, haven’t played in around a year but I’m kind of getting the urge again.
Never fun to get stuck in drama. That’s one of the reasons I play MMOs casually (I’ve been in the same guild/Free Company since the start and it’s had its fair share of drama too, but I’ve never been part of it thankfully), that kind of commitment would probably sour the experience for me.A semi-disabled veteran friend of mine was super into this game for a LONG time. He was committed since the beginning, all the way until maybe a little over a year ago. He tried pulling me into it every time we talked, even back when I had zero time to play any games AT ALL, much less an MMORPG..
He apparently got discouraged and eventually pushed out by in-game politics. Allegedly his whole guild turned against him over some BS. He was a Dark Knight/Tank that went by the name: Magus
