Final Fantasy Thread

Man, Zozo is one of the coziest areas in the entire franchise. Top 5 for sure

Hey!
Update on me, i dropped the game almost instantly. I didnt like the game personally, maybe final fantasy isnt for me.

Oh sorry to hear that. Thanks for giving the series a shot anyways.

If you dont mind me asking: what made you drop it? (and also what version were you playing?)

anyone consider the bravely default series as being a final fantasy spin off? i certainly think so, considering it started as a sequel to a final fantasy game, and even has a lot of the same or similar items

I as a gamer totally despise when people use Final Fantasy as an innuendo.

Just needed to get that out of my system.
I'll see myself out.

Yes for sure, its final fantasy in all but name already

What?

Playing them all is one thing, beating them all might be physically impossible :P
Does the number include re-released games? If so that means way less games , final fantasy games aren't the sort of games you would go back to each year so replaying re-released is kinda meh if you ask me like i already played FF1 why would i play GBA or PSP version? Just play the most up to date that is PR and no need to play every single iteration of FF1

i would like to know peoples opinions on world of final fantasy, it was the first final fantasy game i bate and i love it a lot, i don't think it's nostalgia, i love almoust everithing about the game, i can only think ONE complain to the top of my head and it's that the stack mechanic feels somewhat useless to be out of, the only thing i think it might be usefull for it to spam items when you have a bunch of them, including fenix downs becouse if i rememver correctlly stats suck out of stack

im looking forward playing a modern final fantasy and can't decide between XIII or XV, my pc can't run XVI

you're never supposed to be out of the stack. that's the whole point; all of your characters stats stack together to make your teams stronger. usually you can stop the wobbling if your characters are strong enough to endure the attack; if i remember correctly.
the game is solid overall; world building is a bit shaky after the first chapter, since it isn't quite consistent with the final fantasy characters. i like the designs for the recruitable monsters. baby ifrit is adorable and so is little shiva and her goth counterpart. it definitely has a pokemon feel to it, with different monsters having different powers and stats. magic spells stacking to make stronger ones is a good mechanic as well.
i don't remember what the music sounded like, so no comment on that.
the story is interesting; part of me wanted the game to end with the fake bad ending.
the pink pixie was pretty funny interacting with the green fox.
not a bad game. probably one of the few games where dlc could have added a ton more content to the game. have some worlds based off of other square games, adding in more monsters and characters too.

VI Advance was also my first and my favorite final fantasy. looking forward playing a modded snes version. The cover for the GBA port is hard tho.

Just remembered to share some of my "moronic episodes when playing Final Fantasy" with you guys

Final Fantasy 7:

1-i though tifa was barret wife

2-i didn't use power/mind/luck source until i was around 30-40 hours into the game i thought they temporarily increased a stat only when i realized they were usable outside battle i connected the dots that they are permanent stat increases like tomes from WarCraft 3

3-i didn't know that "all" materia was the one responsible for spells doing AOE damage until few hours into the game.

4-i didn't know cure/esuna can be used outside battle so i just used potions to heal in the overworld won't be until near end of disc 1 that i realized cure can be at all times.

5-i decided to do an only boys dungeon that was the Cosmo canyon dungeon i forgot to equip a healing materia so the dungeon was sort of on a timer the more battles i fought the less likely i was going to win vs the boss infact i lost couple times only thanks to emulator save did i manage to win with nearly no healing and few potions.

6-i equipped reflect item on me and during the fight with an iron giant i cast heal on everyone and my share of healing goes to the iron giant i think it's an ability of the giant to be effected by cure not realizing reflect is a thing at all during my playthrough of FF7.

Final Fantasy 6:

1-i didn't realize you could make spells do AOE attack until more i was almost nearly done with the game and just deciding to visit narshe so i played more than 25 hours without knowing fire could be used on multiple foes

2-i thought esper stat gain was something like an item you equip when removed the added stat is gone turns out later when i was also already over 25 hours in that esper stat gain was gained upon leveling up...

Final Fantasy 5:

1-I thought the "job" was going to be something we would work on like becoming a blacksmith yeah i thought jobs were real jobs and not a substitute for the world "class"

Final Fantasy 4:

1-i kept casting sight on enemies thinking it will do something in battle.

Final Fantasy 2:

1-i was confused about levels i kept thinking "we will become level 2 now we will become level 2 now" i think it took me 30 minutes or an hour to realize the vast difference in gameplay.

Final Fantasy 1:

1-i got lost in the sky fortress and had to just walk on random and hope i find the wind crystal altar.

Final Fantasy 8:

1-i didn't realize higher quantity of spells effected stat changes so i played 3 discs without knowing this only when i looked at status defense and figured being immune to water was cuz one of the team had 100 water putting the theory to test i discover what i should have known from day 1.

2-i totally missed that you could "fire" the gunblade by pressing R1 i thought when quistis brought it up in the first battle you get into she said "L1" instead of "R1" or so i thought.

Final Fantasy tactics :

1-didn't know the job system even existed until after 3-5 battles
