This is SO badass!

Their website for those interested;

It's such a shame this incredible rebuild uses the original NES text and as such is hard to recommend for first timers or people going through the series one at a time, and unfortunately due to the way they developed it it's pretty much impossible to change without rebuilding the whole game. It's so close to just being the definitive version of FF1.

outstanding effort on recreating ff, but also adding a personal touch to it. works flawless in linux through lutris as well
There are Linux and Mac native versions even though we don't carry them here.

This Port is an excellent representation of the FF1 Classic and with some improvements and additions as shown in the game description and thank you very much for sharing this game Guts. ::peacemario

It's a great rendition of Final Fantasy 1.
You can stick to a mostly vanilla playthrough and enjoy the QOL features like auto-targeting, but I highly recommend checking out the new classes. They all have unique talents that make playthroughs more interesting. Some even have quests to unlock their full potential.

There's also an absurd number of achievements for the maniacs out there.
I agree, though I feel it needs a random 50 floor dungeon mode attached to this crazy class variety to really get its cherry on top; I hope a mode like this gets integrated at some point (look up Final Fantasy Randomizer, it's one of the modes it offers).

Development is a little slow, but the creator still intends to add more classes. Samurai and Machinist are next, I believe. I'll update the entry here once that version drops.
