Just wanted to say I finally played Crisis Core, and I already miss it. I’m really disappointed though. I planned to 100% all the missions after finishing the story and was about 50% done, but after the ending the game let me save, and that save basically wipes your progress and makes you start over. I’m sadly not starting over right now.
the game has a new game plus mode. you'll start back at the beginning, but you keep everything that you got during your playthrough.

How do I start it? I tried loading my save and it only let me choose between easy and hard. Talking about the PSP version to be clear.

i don't remember off the top of my head. it's been nearly 10 years since i last played it, but i would try loading the save file that you beat the game with. it should let you know that you can start a new game plus or something to that effect.
if that doesn't do anything, try the new game option or look for a new game+ option on the main title menu. the game should prompt you to use clear data from a previous playthrough if it detects it.

@MasterEn Okay, so what happened is that only the missions were wiped. The rest of my progress stayed the same, like my level and materia. It still kind of sucks, though, because I have to redo all the missions again.

any XVI enjoyers in here? its mad controversial.
Sadly as an FF game, not really.
Writing is so bad, overuse the F word constantly, drives me nuts.

(Spoilers: need to go to Youtube for this one)

Side quest content isn't too thrilling either, reminds me of low level MMO style fetch quests.
However I do like the visuals, music and the combat is pretty decent, but really i still much prefer turn based, or a hybrid of it.
It's no the worst but personally i have stayed well clear of the franchise after FF12.

Yeah, it's the same issue I've mentioned. I'm at chapter 4, and I'm conflicted to restart all over since I've skipped a skippable side quest in chapter 3 preventing me the 100%.
From what I've understood the New Game+ does actually transfer some progress: level, gil, materia.
We can see that as a speedrun of some sorts if we ever want to return there.

It's fine. Like, probably a 7.5/10 for me. Absolutely a much better written game than XV with a better development management. But it scarcely (if not at all) felt "RPG".

MMO or not: FF XIV is amazing as well.

yeah, there always has to be some sort of drawback. but the missions should be easier now with your higher level, so the easier missions can be done quicker now.

My two cents; I've always thought the XIII trilogy was among the best the series had to offer, any time it's brought up in discussion I feel like I've come from a mirror dimension.

Everyone, or at least the vast majority, seem to hate it (at least online) and consider it a failure in the franchise. Which shocks me. I know enough people must have liked it, they made 3 of them. I don't think I ever understood the hate.

Particularly XIII-2, that game felt like a love letter to Chrono Trigger and was so good (to me) it reinvigorated my love for the franchise.

the first game sold 6 million units. the sequels each sold half of that each time. 3 mil for part 2 and about 1.6 mil for the finale. so, about 1.6 million people seem to genuinely like the trilogy.
as far as i can tell, it seems to depend on which ff game is your first as to which half of the series that you like more. if 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, and 12 are your first and/or favorite, you will like the more medieval fantasy games more and if 7, 8, 13, and 15 are your first exposure to the series and your favorite(s), you will like the science fiction themed games more.
13 has a lot of problems with just the first game alone; but it probably comes off better if it's one of the first that you played. ff13 would have been like the 15th or so in the series that i played so it just falls flat for me. there's quite a bit of stuff that would have worked and made it a better game and story but they went with what they did.
this is also seemingly a case where the person in charge liked the game, ideas and characters so much that it was forced to be completed, regardless of how much it would sell.

I've played the series since 6 was 3 on the SNES (which is actually my favorite entry in the series, would be great if they'd give it some more love). You might be on to something, 6 does sort of straddle the medieval fantasy and futuristic sci-fi line pretty perfectly.

I'll be honest though, I bounced of off 13 twice before I could get through the whole thing. It's super different, has a really convoluted story, and it does feel like someone's pet project that got pushed to the finish line, agreed there.

Something about the hopeless scrappy heroes fighting against something so much larger than themselves landed for me. Probably why I like 6 so much too. But I also bounced off of 8 and straight up do not get the hype that game seems to have, so maybe I'm just weird.

That really sucks. Maybe you can finish the story for now and do the missions another time. I’m saving it for when I revisit the game someday. Maybe I’ll play it on Hard and then go for 100%. Good luck!

I am eternally stuck in the middle of the newest FF14 expansion. I used to run a little FC for awhile so I still log in to keep the house up and running but I hardly ever play and haven't even finished the newest story stuff yet let alone patch stuff. I just can't bring myself to end the subscription, and every time I do log in I end up thinking "Man I do remember why I loved this shit"

I've got a copy of it but haven't played it yet. I really really enjoyed the Bro-road trip vibe of 15 and I guess THAT take is pretty controversial too.

yeah, 6 seems to balance out the science stuff with the fantasy stuff pretty well, which is something that 10 does as well.
the story is quite non-sensical. i had to read the chapter summaries to know what was going on, and i saw the spoony one's videos on it, where he went over the story; which seems like it was written down as they made it up, which left plot holes in a lot of spots.
pretty much everyone loves an underdog story; which many games have.
8 is a weird one, since only about 40% of the game was made. it was meant to be 8 cds long, a sequel was planned as well, so we will never know what it was supposed to fully be like.
i only made it to the end of disc one and i have never touched the game again. i feel no need or desire to play it.

ON TO TIMBER!

Today we're taking the luxurious train from
Balamb to Timber.

Selphie and Zell are super excited to board. What can I say,

it's a huge train with no one in it to bother us,
it's practically a big moving house!

(Squall is being emo as usual.)

Zell tells a grand story about Timber's History.
Aaaand as usual Squall is just like "whatever."

Then
Selphie walks in, she seems a bit off.

Suddenly she just collapses. It's not unlike her to trip and fall over as we've seen before, but she's out cold. And now Zell is too! And now i'm feeling a little slee-

We make our way through the jungle toward our destination, back home in Deling City.

My crew is telling me I'm wasting my time, but to be honest uh.. I'm not sure where to go.

Not sure what's going on but this music is fucking awesome ^^

CONTINUED PART 9

I've never played this FF but I would like to give it a try someday, hope you're enjoying it.

That's crazy, I had not heard that about 8. Makes a lot of sense looking back at it actually.

it was fairly recently that this info came out, so it's not common knowledge at the moment. and more and more info is steadily being found out about all of the final fantasy games.
it's possible in ff1 and ff2 to have the final boss flee the final battle if your groups total hp levels are high enough. i didn't know that until a few months ago.

mmm. nah i gotta respectfully disagree on that one as well, I played a fair of that on PS5. it's not that impressive imo, mostly a glam/hang out game, players bitch all the time as well unless your perfect in your job/class. plus its not the behemoth MMO it once was anymore.

I'll gladly respect it as well.
I'm one of those who is playing it mainly for the story tbh. It's still way more RPG than XV and XVI ever wish to be.
Raiding and dungeons are fun and satisfying to do.

I just finished also the post-game of Stormblood. The pacing is an issue (personally mainly), but the lore and characters is all good.
How much have you done there? If you're still only in ARR, I wanna say that the final part makes it all worth and hype.

The real issue will be to return to FFXI being the last one I'll ever play to beat. Ugh. That is one that hasn't aged really great, especially on how unfriendly the UI and controls are.
