Fighting Game Thread

Fascinating stuff. The multitude of different SF2 versions is such a wild ride of character changes, given how none of them are really officially documented. I'd probably take O.Sagat from ST too, cancelling the second hit of S.LK seems pretty good considering how long ranged it is. And the low tiger shots aren't as bad as in CE, but like they're better than 95% of the others characters still.
Absolutely - low tiger shots are very strong in every iteration of SF2, I'd say.

There are a number of rather strange omissions and oddities in HSF2. CE Dictator's original USA revision had a 6-hit Psycho Crusher, which appears to be the nerfed 3-hit version found in the later revisions here.

A secret way to select the broken WW bosses would've also been nice, just for the sake of completion (which is possible via the romhack HSF2++, though I have not messed around with it myself).

Additionally, ST characters should be able to tech all throws, not just those from other ST characters. It also makes the game feel incomplete. Generally speaking though, I really enjoy HSF2.

have any of you all played capcom fighting evolution? such a strange concept of a game but fun to play casually with friends
ryu v urien in that game feels like a mountain fighting a hurricane
I wish I liked CFJ/CFE, but the game feels very jank - comparing the way that Urien feels in SF3 compared to CFJ, and he is far less natural in CFJ as he lacks a sense of weight, for lack of a better word.

The systems likely would've benefited to being chosen before selecting a character, similar to the groove system of CVS2.

The famous kusoge, as some people would say. The game was such a lazy and broken mess, there's too many issues to really name off here. That being said, I spent some decent time with it back in the day too.

Played it more than I'd like to admit, which isn't a lot. It feels like Mugen before Mugen was a thing, just a strange mishmash of stuff with not much thought behind it. Taking this into account and the game we were supposed to get in its place, yeah, it's panned for good reason, lol.

Rented it once many moons ago, played it for about an hour and never touched it again. I don't remember a ton about it these days except not liking it a great deal.

I had fun playing a bit of Fighting Evolution/Jam at a local via the recent collection release. It's cool that they have two bosses from Red Earth playable. Probably not something I'd play outside a local but fun while I'm there.

Was banging tekken 6 earlier for xbox still plays incredible.

Trying to derust survivor mode in +R. It's been some time since i tried some runs. This is the first time i died to Chipp lmao. I'm still trying to get used to my first ever mechanical keyboard and this new layout i'm playing. I've been playing for years with a janky stiff membrane keyboard full of ghosting

tekken tag tournament 2 has my favourite stages and music in the series
and the roster and tag mechanics too? honestly this might be my favourite tekken game
oddly enough, it is impossibly deep in regard to competitive play, yet also features so many additional game modes for more casual players

LOOOOOL
I laugh so hard any time TTT2 is mentioned out of the blue
That game was pure meme
Definition of fighting game bloat
Everyone got scared by it and honestly you will not meet a human who mastered every single matchup in that game unless they’re lying
It also gave us this

And this
Because harada woke up on the wrong side of the bed one day and made a Wii U of his family Cliff throwing simulator
Never change.

This is the funniest tekken image of all time.

while it is true this game was a competitive hell, you could remedy this to a degree by only choosing a two of the higher tier/overtuned characters and stomping randoms in perpetually laggy ranked matches online
on thinking about it this game was a hellscape in any competitive sphere

Yeah i should reiterate most of my comments were observations. Tag 2 was bizarre in the best way for me.

Garou : Mark of the Wolves
Mains: Terry , Tizoc , Rock howard

Guilty Gear X2 : Midnight Carnival
Mains: Sol Badguy , Venom

KOF99
Mains: South-town team

SVC Chaos : SnK vs Capcom
Mains: Kyo , Terry , Iory , Dimitri , Shiki

Darkstalkers
Mains: J.Talbain , Dimitri , Felicia

Samurai Shodown 3
Mains: Haohmaru , Hattori Hanzo , Jubei , Charlotte

Soul Calibur 2&3
Mains: Kilik , Nightmare , Lizardman

Bloody Roar 1&2
Mains: Yugo , Alice , Long , Gado

Still too many to count. Right now im planning to play the Virtual Fighter-series .
I bought the xbox360 game and thinking about getting the last game on Steam that was re-released .

i think bizarre is a good way to put it
i will outline my thoughts on ttt2 in greater detail:
the huge roster made playing at the highest level a bit of a nightmare as tekken is a pretty knowledge heavy legacy fighter
but that huge roster did make it a dream for casual play at both high and low levels with friends as you could play for three hours and not play every combination of characters
the balance was generally alright with mishimas being pretty high tier
although in laggy online ranked world i recall eddy and christie being nightmare creatures
and the plethora of offline modes made the game a bit more friendly towards players who didn't want to play online constantly
i forget completely if i was trying to make a point of some kind with all this

Yeah
Knowledge checks were insane and this was before execution timing was toned down
It’s easily the most purist tekken there is

Just saw this on my recommended feed, I'm definitely going to watch it later; love Thorgi's Arcade. As long as MvC4 has Punisher, Daredevil or Moon Knight I'll be a happy man, preferably all three but that's probably asking too much.

Hey don’t you dare forget about my favorite marvel character; functions.

I mean I feel bad for Infinite given that it was such an atrocious release, a complete misfire in almost every conceivable way save for some of the roster choices, but I feel so bad for Combofiend there. He gets hired by Capcom, probably had really good ideas and optimism about the game and likely loved how he was the PR spokesperson for his own community, then Capcom made him go out there and say that infamous excuse. Combofiend, the man famous for playing mid and low tier characters (everyone thought Spencer was useless until BIOOOONIC ARM at EVO), was contractually obligated to say "characters are just functions" about Marvel, a game famous for having memorable and fan favourite characters. It's just so sad, that game is just so unfortunate on so many levels.

Ah yeah for sure. My heart goes out to combofiend.
