Fighting Game Central

I used to be a Street Fighter person, right until the first Guilty Gear came out. Since then? It's always been May for me. And I'm not even into cute pirate girls. It's just... I don't know. Sometimes you're like, "This! I like this!" And that's it. I still do like Street Fighter games, but Guilty Gear's May is my one true love :->

I guess I'll also place my thoughts on some of the recent announcements here to have it in a more dedicated thread.

The new Marvel Arcsys game looks good graphically, but as an MvC fan it hurts to see a Marvel fighter without Capcom. The Capcom gameplay and roster were as important to me as the X-men were on the Marvel side for those games. The last Arcsys game I liked was +R, and I don't see that changing at this time.

New MK classic collection is nice. I probably won't pick it up, but it should be fun to have MK newcomers jump into the originals for a while. Trilogy and Gold certainly seem to be odd exclusions. It would be preferable to have those instead of MK Tournament Edition (GBA) and MK Advance.

S3 of SF6 looks like a big upgrade in its DLC character picks. Out of the last two seasons, I only cared for Dictator - two roster slots out of four taken up by SNK characters in S2 was rather overkill. I haven't had the chance to play the Elena patch yet, though I think I'll enjoy the new parry system.

I had about the same reaction. I was immensely excited when I saw new 'Marvel fighting game', then immediately disappointed when I read the rest of the headline. No shade on anime fighter or Arcsys, just not at all what I want personally. I'm sure it'll be fine.

While we're talking about Capcom Marvel fighting games, here's my fantasy; I yearn for a dedicated Marvel fighting game, like a modern remake of Marvel Super Heroes. Give it some wild and zany stuff in there still of course, but a return to a traditional 6 button fighter with actual neutral and 1v1, and I think I'd actually phase to another dimension from hype. I'll still take MvC4 of course, but that's my personal pipe dream.

It's a cute little collection, them putting in MK Advance is obviously done just for meme value which is kinda silly but sure.

I just couldn't care about anything that has Arcsys's name on it, lol. I must have played on GG game and said no in less than an hour. Their whole catalog just feels like they're trying too hard for me. Plus the anime style never sat right with me either.

As for SF6, I REALLY wanted to be more excited about it. I wasn't a fan of two SNK guest characters either. It feels like every damn game needs a guest character in some shape or form nowadays and it doesn't feel as cool as it used to be. I'd say leave that stuff to MK but in fairness I didn't really care about Homelander or Omni-Man either. Sagat and Alex should have been on the roster earlier, C. Viper just feels kinda meh, and as for Ingrid, some earlier comments are true. Most people don't like her for CFE and the way she was introduced in Alpha 3. It's never fun when you bring a character out of nowhere and all of a sudden she's a big deal without giving us a reason to care. That's why people don't like Reina, or Kronika, or others. Sure, fighting game lore always tends to be bad anyways, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't at least try.

New board calls for new threads, and what better subject then good ol' Fighting Games!? So share with us what you're playin' and who you're mainin'!

I've been getting back into ST and Alpha 2/3 lately, maining Ryu in the former and Sakura/Karin in the latter 2. Hoping to getting back to playing them with friends soon once my schedule clears up a bit. These games always feel like coming back home to me.

I'm not really playing any regularly at the moment, but I do love me some fightan!

A friend bought me the new Granblue VS game for PS4 along all the season passes as they come because he actually plays the mobile games and it was the only way for him to get the goodies (since you apparently don't get them via the PC version) but I've only touched it a bit. It's really fun though, and it's simple enough that my friends are okay with playing it occasionally.

I bought Street Fighter 6 last EVO sale, and I guess it's alright. I think it's really ugly though and that removes some of the fun (along with a pretty uninteresting roster) since so much of what makes a fighitng game good are the visuals. I make a pretty mean Zangief on it though.

My favorite fighting games of all time are Marvel 3, DB Fighterz, and probably SF Alpha 2.

Been trying to get back into SF6 lately since that season 3 update just dropped. I also want to pick up the new Fatal Fury sometime soon too. Used to try and keep up with all the new fighters coming out but the genre has been going in a direction I don't like for quite some time now so I'm much more selective on what modern fighters I pick up.

Haven't played any old fighting games lately but there are a countless amount I want to try and get into or pick back up, just gotta take it one game at a time 😅. Particularly want to check out the old arcsys scene, since I played a lot of Xrd when it was current but haven't spend much time on the other games.

Best Fighting game of ALL TIME: Mondu's Fighting Palace/ Slaughter Sport for the Genesis. The smooth controls, the combos, the characters and the excitement. This game has it all

I respect your opinion but this already seems like pure sarcasm than anything else.

Fighting Games!
I think I should first mention Groove on Fight first because I just love playing that game even if it's just arcade mode for me, give me Solis and Remi and I'm having the time of my life.
Other than that I always love Vampire Savior, that game is so good and I can lab Buletta all day without getting tired of it (Don't try to do the Sako Infinite because you will get humbled quick lol)

Probably a casual answer to some, but Mortal Kombat X is probably my favourite. Other games have larger rosters, and better storylines, but I love MKX for the unique way that each character controls, the various unlockables and game modes, the fatalities and the arenas. It's also the one (and likely only) fighting game I've ever gotten all trophies/achievements for, which I was pretty proud of.

Favourite fighter is the blind swordsman, Kenshi

Been trying to get back into Guilty Gear XX AC since it's one of my favorites but been struggling to find the time to really knuckle down and relearn that game. Considering buying that new Fatal Fury as well but I've heard that game was pretty much dead on arrival so idk if there's much point in going for it and learning the game. Other than that, I was messing around with the Dreamcast version of KoF 2002.

It's not the smash hit people where expecting it to be but it's still doing comparable numbers to KOF15, which is good for modern SNK.

- Tekken (PS1)
- Street Fighter Zero (PS1)
- Variable Geo (PC-9801 / PS1)
- Bloody Roar (PS1)
- Soul Edge (PS1)
- Dark Stalkers (PS1)
- Rival Schools: United by Fate (PS1)
- Garou Densetsu (PS1)

Geez, gotta stop here, or I'll go on forever! 😅
These games are timeless... 🤩 (aside the "nostalgia factor")

Capcom VS SNK 2 and I don't really have a favorite
