DOA 1 is on PS1 and a few other ports iirc? Also DOA always reminded me of Dreamcast and PS2 for some reason. I am most likely just out of the loop on these games, apologies if I am.
Basically the director/producer of the series Tomonobu Itagaki is a perfectionist, so because of that those games have a lot of versions DOA 1 is on PSX and Saturn and later in OG Xbox, then he did the same with 2 and that got released until he was satisfied with the xbox version and the same happened with the two ninja Gaiden reboot games, so imagine how many patches we would have today if he still worked on Tecmo ?.

True. They wanted to make a fighting game based on monsters from classical tales but Universal Pictures (who holds the rights) said no and Capcom said fck it we will do our own. Even though you can see the influences, the amount of creative freedom they took with the characters gives them their own unique identity.

That's cool, but still they seem like the most random choice of quest characters for this game.

Never played a Darkstalkers game. How is the combat in the franchise? It focus on combos, like Tekken? Moves like Street fighter? Or something else?
