Fighting Game Central

I personally didn't like SF 6 i gave the physical copy away soon after buying it.
I used to be hyped by it going back to the street style of III then the RE engine really looks uncanny and isn't the most optimised...

They should've kept the SF IV style with more refined models...

I'm sorry but is this me or SFVI has been "Tekken-ified"?

We have lost something from this aesthetic...

I love both looks. These characters are human and can't wear the same thing forever. SFV Alex felt somewhat lazy in design. I welcome the new change, and I am excited for his NWO persona. I love Elena's and everyone else's new looks. Ingrid's I'm not sure about though.

This would be amazing with sharper graphics

I love the lore of Tekken, the story is insane and stupid and just makes me happy... but dear god do I suck at it. There's something about the fixed side camera with characters moving in a 3D space that means I swing at air and get suplexed every match.

I want to play it so badly, but I struggle too hard so I don't enjoy my time playing.

Regarding the popularity of leverless controllers, back in the early 2010s with SF4, I remember the advice was that if you were interested in competitive matches, Xbox 360 was the best option, followed by Ps3 and lastly Windows.
PC players were regarded as the worst and playing with keyboard was shunned upon.

Whereas now controllers like Hitbox are the latest craze in tournaments

Are there people that can recommend me obscure and semi-obscure early late 90's 00's fighting games?
It's funny you should mention that, @Ikagura
I actually have just the game in mind right now that fits perfectly with what you're asking.

I present to you VS. and yes, it's actually called that. (Real original, right?xD) it was released in 1997 and was essentially a commercial flop.

it's basically a janky ass tekken clone with abysmal graphics lol but hey, you did ask for obscure. In all my years, I haven't met another person IRL that's played it. I did dig up a few pic, though.

I picked this game up as a kid out of the Walmart bargain bin probably that same exact year for $5. Man I was sorely disappointed when I got home and put it in.
Oh well, they can't all be winners I guess.

Let's see... I'll try to name some anime and anime adjacent stuff

The Queen of Heart '99

French Bread before they were French Bread and I think this was their best output of their Watanabe Seisakujo years. (although I haven't tried QOH 2001 yet)

Asuka 120% LimitOver Burning Fest.

Being an unofficial but kinda official update from the developers (long story), this version only has versus mode. So if you want to play Story Mode I would advise you to pick up the unmodded version which is "Asuka 120% Limited Burning Fest."

Groove on Fight

Being the Power Instinct series' 3rd entry Groove on Fight is an extremely underrated 2v2 fighting game, you could say it's like the Garou: Mark of the Wolves of the Power Instinct series in a way.

Eternal Fighter Zero

co4vj4.jpg

A fighting game with Visual Novels girls as the cast, you can tell the developers were big fans of games like Guilty Gear and KOF when you play this game. This one is for the people who like fast movement and anime girls.

Samurai Deeper Kyo

Based on the manga series of the same name. Unlike other samurai fighting games, Samurai Deeper Kyo's gameplay is very aggressive and mix-up heavy. It's a 1v1 game that has assists and the control scheme is pretty unique.

Power Instinct Matrimelee

What is this? Another Power Instinct game?! Yes, another Power Instinct game. This game is basically the most grounded one when it comes to gameplay out of the ones I listed, but don't let that fool you because this game is weird and delightful as hell.

im new around these parts, but my top 3 id say are:
-melty blood actress again (very ass at it but i absolutely love everything about it, super wanna get better at it in the future)
-guilty gear strive (not the best game ever buuut its what helped me get into the fgc and fighting games as a whole so i have a soft spot for it)
-dragon ball fighterz (its the one fighting game me and my irls can all get on and have a blast, we even revived the dbfz scene at our college for a while lol)

obv its mostly anime fighters i play so yes im a bum LMAOO

I've tried Skullgirl's original release and oh boy, so few characters haha!

I am less interested in the game in its current state but I'm glad to try its original form.

I've also downloaded Street Fighter IV's original build and Battle Fantasia.

Can't believe we're getting a new version of Dead Or Alive 6 AND they teased DOA7. After 6 flopped as hard as it did and alienated both hardcore and casual fans I kind of assumed the IP would be put on ice for a lot longer. Pleasantly surprised to see they're giving it another go. Not sure any DOA will ever match DOA4 for me but more 3D fighters are always welcome.

Here's hoping that unlike DOA6 on PS4, DOA7 actually runs at 60fps on console and has rollback.
