Parace L'sia from Arcana Heart 3 used to give me so much trouble as a kid when I used to play it back in the day.
Seth USED to be a lot worse for me. I remember horror stories about him on SF4 vanilla or Super SF4, but on Ultra, he's not the worst boss ever, though he can still kick your ass if you're not careful.Gotta bring up Seth's fight from SF4 again, but this time about the stage theme:
Crumbling laboratory. I love everything about this theme. Seth pulls out all of the stops with the sonic booms, constant teleports, SPDs, and continuous DPs. As the player beats Seth for one round, the theme changes as the laboratory falls into a greater state of disrepair.
In terms of music, crumbling laboratory is everything I want from a boss theme.
I wanna say I have more memories playing around the time of AE and AE2012 onwards, though I do own vanilla SF4 on console as well. I didn't have to deal with it back then, but Yun in original AE could've been a boss in his own right - not to mention vanilla SF4 Sagat, too. Too bad Ultra has an overtuned Elena, since otherwise the balance of USFIV is pretty good. I'd have to boot up vanilla again to see if the horror stories are trueSeth USED to be a lot worse for me. Hydron is playable in Capcom Fighting Jam, at least! Bad game, but it is playable there. CFJ will be in the next fighting collection.Red Earth is entirely bosses outside of the few playable characters, it's kinda sad.
I'd do anything to play as Hydron
I knew that, but I refuse to acknowledge Fighting Evolution and Fighting Jam, they're dead to me just like MvCI.Hydron is playable in Capcom Fighting Jam, at least! Bad game, but it is playable there. CFJ will be in the next fighting collection.
I just played through an arcade mode run of KOF94, and Rugal was noticeably much easier this attempt than some of my other runs from years ago. Lucky's f.D was very abusable when managing Rugal, and Genocide cutter wasn't used too much by the A.I.My problem with Rugal in 2002UM isn't even him being a one-time attempt, or his damaging moves. It's his ridiculously large health.
I'd mention 94 and 95 but they're kinda similar in design, and the problem it's mostly the cheap AI. But that's the thing, an annoying AI can make the weakest characters pure hell to fight against.
I have yet to replay KOF 94 at some point. Last time I played 95 was years ago. I only really play them from 96 onwards.I just played through an arcade mode run of KOF94, and Rugal was noticeably much easier this attempt than some of my other runs from years ago. I had a much harder time against Choi - he was flying across the screen the whole time, and his [2]8B was very frustrating, causing a few game overs. In general, though, I still enjoy 94's arcade run.
Still a better track record than me, that's for sure! I tend to play 98um and 02um every so often, but have rarely gone back to others in the series, unfortunately. I wanted to play through some of the earlier games as I was inspired by this thread to see if my opinions change at all.I have yet to replay KOF 94 at some point. Last time I played 95 was years ago. I certainly agree about Kintaro - they are quite the piece of work! Exploiting the CPU has been the only real way to beat those early MK games.Kintaro is a mid-boss in MK2 , but he also deserves a mention as he can be more annoying than Shao Kahn. Besides being cheap, they cheat.

I think it helps to bait out one of his "regular" supers when you're about to kill him. Both do insane amounts of chip dmg but compared to getting TOD'd by him getting a single cr.hp after resurrection, it's way better. You can usually hit him out of Seraphic Wings because he doesn't gain i-frames until the move is about to start. So until the screen starts flashing you can get him with any j forward move.Gill gives me trouble in 3S when not playing Urien - Aegis mirror is very strong on his wakeup resurection, so he doesn't gain much life back, and loses his meter. Priority is annoying, I'll give ya that![]()
