favorites tales of games ?

Yeah. The reason is that they used the japan only PS2 port as the base for the HD version.
While I know undub exists, it is kinda easier to play the game from my discs than get one of those. To me Tales games are OK dubs, just that the thing they skimmed with was the skits being voices in dub, making me play Abyss with an undub to restore that content, and Vesperia was very OK to play originally on 360 when the skits are fully voiced.
Something about the Gamecube source code being lost, or that the PS2 version had more content so they opted to use that as the base. Either way it's sad.
The lack of voiced skits is a bummer but I'd still lean towards the original. I'm no frame snob but I couldn't stand battles in the HD collection.

Honestly PS2 is weaker than GameCube, that's why the game run like crap on PS2. But I'll make a point about it later on to say something. And I checked around and confirmed how rest of ports are locked to 30 FPS that does confirm they just ported PS2 port rubbish.

Source code is not a "magical text" that you can copy paste and make the game work on other platforms. To port the game you still have to tweak source code to befit the "game" into the "reality" of the target platform. It means gotta rewrite the codes that directly interract with the hardware and due to hardware limitation you may need to "demake" the assets so you may need to re-create the assets. So it's like translating a book to another language. In the process "meanings" are lost so you have to optimize the game. That's why porting the game to PS2 by using GameCube source code would be harder and way more time waster BS than actually using GameCube source and add whatever feature added to the PS2 version to the source code to release it to platforms that's not weak as PS2 because they don't require tons of work to optimize the source code as they did for PS2 to make the game run in playable way.

All I can say is they are lazy so they did lazy port jobs as if PS2 port was superior. GameCube could run games on 60 FPS but later consoles made people enforce enjoying 30 FPS so they didn't care how much these ports lack quality.

I absolutely LOVE Tales of Vesperia.

I've tried a few others, but they never really managed to grab me the same way. Played Symphonia as a kid but wasn't overly invested, but I've downloaded Abyss and I'm looking forward to giving it a go.
