favorite walk cycle?

That’s kinda how Igarashi created SotN if i remember correctly. He reportedly didn’t like the NESvanias and modeled SotN’s controls as an answer to that.
Is this the same thing with Shinji Mikami wanting RE to become different from the PSX games?

It's my issue when a series is handled by different directors because not every would agree on the same things to the point I feel that some series are producing two parallel, spin-off sub-series between them.

At least that new style worked (compared to the 3D ones and how LoS/LoS 2 felt too different) but I wish that they could've coexisted the same way 2D and 3D Zelda would.

I personally agree that they’re not “stiff” as in “bad”, they are “stiff” but that’s just part of the controls. I personally think it makes sense and it wasn’t really that uncommon. There’s a ton of old platformers that had you committing to your jump.
The level design in castlevania 1, 3 snd 4 is some of my all time favorite in a 2d platformer. I think they’re such a joy to revisit, especially 4 which is my second favorite 4th gen platformer besides Rockman & Forte.
Maybe the only time it didn't work well was Simon's Quest more open level design but then again I think the jumping was less stiff in this one and in Dracula's curse other characters made it different.

Too many people expected that every 8-bits platformer should be played like Super Mario Bros.

I'm just a pissed off, misunderstood delinquent dragging a chair on the ground behind him at all times.

I love how chipper Hyakutaro Ichimonji looks when summoned by Marco in NEO GEO Battle Coliseum. SNK's graphics team were possessed, and probably cackled while making all the new character sprites for this game.

I remember buying the PS2 port back in the day, and being floored by just how much Metal Slug content was present in Marco's moveset.

Also, his panic run at the end always gets me. :loldog

Any Prisoner of War: ¡Thank You!

It's technically a special move, but I'm a big fan of the Vaseraga 'walk towards you menacingly' stomp in Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising
