So, I genuinely adore stop motion animation, whether it be movie or tv shows or just a YouTube short film

What's your favorite stop motion media? Mine's the Mary and Max movie and that one YouTube short film, mother goat(I forgot what's it called but the animation is lovely )

I have always admired both Coraline, and a foreign short I can't remember at the time (will have to check back later). It's amazing to me how something made the way it is could produce such natural movement. I think the medium really lends itself to some unnerving creativity and imagery.

Can't think of many, but I know I loved Gumby as a kid.

Edit: Okay I had to look around and refresh my memory, Shaun the Sheep, Wallace and Gromit, Chicken Run, and Kubo are all great.

Wallace and Gromit! It's just very charming.

(yes, there's a penguin with a revolver)

Wallace and Gromit of course, and Mr. Bill. For movie, Mad God was something else. A crazy disgusting experience.

There was also the Noid from tv commercials.

After ignoring it for so long, ParaNorman blew me away with its last act, and Isle of Dogs made me tear up multiple times. I also wouldn't be surprised if someone were to mention Del Toro's Pinocchio.
As for smaller projects, I'm a big fan of this one:

I used to watch lots of Shaun the sheep as a kid, so I have lots of fond memories of it.

Probably Chicken Run. It's not insanely original or anything, but it's genuinely well made.

Anything Aardman, Especially Both Wallace and Gromit and Chicken Run

Not a tv series or movie but a videogame franchise: The neverhood and it's sequel Skullmonkeys View attachment 4226View attachment 4227
Criminally Underrated, it's a shame i haven't found a way to play it on modern PC (The closest is the PSX port, but way too much loading kills the deal to me)

! This was a great movie about the Fregoli delusion, where you see everyone you meet as the same person, and how that can destroy a man’s relationships, family, and sense of self. Fun! The animation was phenomenal — it’s unbelievable how lifelike they got these little dolls to move — but the best thing about it was the voice acting. There are a grand total of three (3) VAs in the whole movie, but every one has such range and emotion that you start to forget that they aren’t real people physically acting out a scene.

The movie also has some very interesting meta-visual elements that can only be achieved through stop motion, which I think really make it special among stuff like Coraline or Wallace and Gromit. Have you ever seen a stop-motion sex scene? Well, if you watch this movie, you will have. SCORE!!!

It’s such a shame that stop-motion never really does well. The people making it really do have a passion for the animation style, but I think general audiences just aren’t interested. I’d like to see more of these things funded by eccentric billionaires and shown exclusively in art house theatres for intelligent, beret-wearing people to quietly appreciate.

Moral Orel has recently been making waves, despite being a fairly old show at this point. Definitely a cult classic, if you don't mind a little adult humor
Fantastic show! The guy who did this, Dino Stamatopoulos (let’s shorten down that last name, D), is a very skilled animator who’s actually pioneered a lot of stop-motion techniques. You’ll see his name pop up in essentially any modern stop-motion movie or TV show.

I still am nostalgic for Aardman and Burton/Selick's works but this indie japanese movie really made me love stopmotion again.
