Anime Favorite Slice of Life Anime

I also didn't mention Kiyo in Kyoto: From the Maiko House.

Azumanga Daioh really isn't a slice of life anime, but it seems like it could be, as it's listed as a comedy, with CGDCT, gag humor & school being it's themes. Nichijou is more of a comedy, with the themes being gag humor & school. Kaguya-sama: Love is War also isn't a slice of life, since someone also mentioned the same anime & the anime is a comedy/romance, with school being it's theme. Pop Team Epic isn't either, as it's listed as a comedy, with gag humor & parody being it's themes.

I just go by whether an anime site lists animes as a slice of life, so that's what I based this forum of mine on. A better example of an anime being a slice of life anime would be like Non Non Biyori.

?? I also like skip (to ? And? Don't even remember the name correctly) loafer . I should watch more slice of life now

For now I'd say Great Teacher Onizuka, haven't seen many anime of that genre.

The first slice-of-life anime I ever watched was Sweetness & Lightning, and while it's no longer my favorite, it's still cute and a great introduction to the genre.

My favorites of all time are Given, Golden Boy, and Silver Spoon. I'm currently watching the latest season of Laid-Back Camp

I usually watch a lot of slice of life throughout the year.
Also honestly what´s the point of sharing or recommend when 99.9% will never watch them.
True, but this is more of which slice of life animes are your favorite and not really a recommendation forum.

womp womp lol.
Or people on here really don't know their anime tags. Hard to say honestly. I also have animes linked above in case people aren't sure if it's a slice of life anime; I mean if the anime doesn't fit the "mellow, mundane, relaxed, no conflict" moods, then it's not a slice of life, no matter if it looks like it may be one. Always got to look at the genres and theme tags for animes.

Fine but I don´t wanna hear how much they suck or how you hate them I hear that to often on MAL.
Yes all of these are slice of life but also other things.View attachment 25118
From the picture there I've watched Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, (both seasons and the specials), Laid-Back Camp, (all three seasons, the movie and season 1's specials so far; also reading the manga and I've watched seasons 1-2 twice, with a potential third rewatch of season 1 as of a few minutes ago), all of Non Non Biyori, The Helpful Fox Senko-san, Nekopara, (one of it's OVAs), Aria the Animation, (I'm almost done with season 2 of it), The Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting, (I watched it once) and that's all that I've seen on the picture. The other animes on that picture that I didn't mention are ones that I haven't seen yet, so I can't say anything about them.

My number 1 goat pick would be Aria.
There are also So Ra No Wo To, Tamayura, Do It Yourself, Kiniro Mosaic, Kanamemo. I slowly grew fond of Maid Dragon too.

From the top of my head... Some slice of life anime that I remember enjoying back in the day and no one said so far:

I read the manga of ARIA and was so charming... but I stoped for some reason. Need to get back to it.

Slice-of-life I believe is a genre name that really shouldn't be used. I say that because just about every low key comedy or drama set in a contemporary period will end up getting this label. Correctly because it has realistic depictions of people's trivial daily activities, but it isn't a genre. It's more a type of scene, or so I believe the term has been used in the theatres whence it came.

However, the Japanese genre most linked to the term is Iyashikei, which intends on having a calming and healing effect on the audience.

In that genre my favourites are Aria the animation and Non non biyori.

Aria, for being such a calming show, sure has odd, unexpected things happening frequently. About half of the show is contained in the Aria the natural set of episodes, the ones most filled with supernatural occurrences, and that wasn't a thing I expected in a sci-fi show where Venice has been recreated in a terraformed Mars. Oh yes, Mars is a water planet now. Anyway, I can't see any other avenue to tell the story of a prospective gondolier than that one.

One of the cool aspects of Aria is that the opening theme plays over the episode and often flows from its opening scene. Sampler:

Non non biyori is about following the lives of kids, but only girls of course, that are the only students in the dying Japanese rural town Asahigaoka. The series is calming for its environments and sounds, but also from inhabiting the minds of children. I think the humour, despite having some really funny moments, often detracts from the calming experience, it's repetitive and often doesn't land, but it's slightly amusing most of the time.

Now if people get off to watching some realistic daily life activities and plotlessness, I will recommend Planetes. Cause it's hard sci-fi and the people are in space. It isn't comedy and it isn't yashikei or drama, but it does deviate from its manga at the end to bring a mostly plotless series to a great closing arc. And I loved it.

Yeah the mosted disliked ones on thes list are.
By the grace of the gods. Most reviwers says NOTHING happens which is pure bullshit.
Farming life in another world. Typical nothing happens boring story and yada yada.

Yeah yeah I know people are sick of Isekai but if you don´t like it why the fuck are you watching and leave bad review then ?

Man people on My anime list seams to be so damn stupid they keep watching anime genre they hate.

For me personaly by the grace of the gods is Nr 1 favorite because how damn whole some it is that anime always helps when ever I feel down.
Oh, the person in a strange world genre. I've seen a few, like both seasons of In Another World with My Smartphone, I Shall Survive Using Potions!, Overlord season 1-3 & Fushigi Yuugi. I believe that some people watch specific anime genres just to bitch about them in general and also to give bad reviews/low scores on purpose.

I actually did mention that A-Channel was a favorite of mine on post #1. Love watching Run & the others do their things. I haven't seen many people mention the anime.

Non Non Biyori's also a favorite of mine & I did finish the anime around mid last month, as well as finishing the manga late last year.

Also great choices @Prism_Red

My #1 is definitely GochiUsa. SoL has always been my main niche even back then, but for some reason, GochiUsa really left a huge impression on me. Probably has something to do with their themes of sisterhood, hard work, effort, and whatnot. Pretty common themes to see in a SoL anime, but I feel that GochiUsa did it superbly. Certain scenes touched my dry and cragged soul so hard to the point that I finished some episode in tears.

I liked Aria the Animation back when I watched it but unfortunately I dropped the series during the first few parts of Aria the Natural. Though, it was not the series' fault; it was my own for binging them back-to-back. I should've known better and paced out my watching of them properly.
Thanks for reminding me. Will probably return to the series some time in the near future since I'm fascinated by the fact that
Akari becomes the big boss of the Aria Company in the future.

About Aria, I suggest, if you can, to stick to the SD releases. The BD is a cheesy upscale.

Thanks for the heads-up. It seems like the ones I have are based on the smeary JPBD upscaled by Q-Tec. I heard the USBD ones are better but from a quick search, some still swear by the DVD encodes. Luckily, the latter are still readily available.

That isn't surprising cause Akari is the company's only student and her teacher is their only prima. Unless you count President Aria.
