There was a time when the word was deeply associated with YouTube (and gaming culture) as a whole. A time when your favorite YouTuber was more than likely to start his or her videos by displaying the spinning logo of the company that had poached them all. And a time when you were likely bingeing their whole catalog just because how awesome it truly was. But, alas, much like Rooster Teeth and other early juggernauts on the platform, the dream screeched to a halt and all that's really left is parts of the enormous catalog of videos uploaded to the channel, most of which are lost forever because corporate interests don't care about preservation and would much sooner rather destroy years worth of irreplaceable content than fighting a copyright strike on many of the videos they CHOSE to house. It's a sad and bitter thing, really, the awful realization that, despite being told over and over that what goes online stays there forever, the crude reality is that that's simply not always the case.

Still, I had fun with these guys:

What about you?

I was really into the old WoW machinimas, and I was always a bigger fan of when they were made in-game instead of with After Effects.

This was the first one I ever saw:

Also really liked Oxhorn's music videos back then:

If I find it, I’ll post this really great GTA IV vid I saw ten years ago. If only I could remember the title… it was an animation of some sort.

Edit: Heh, didn’t take long.

not sure if this was a fever dream or not but there was one called insanity or something that was like robot chicken. really funny and even had some interesting animations in there.

also a huge fan of the MW2 and MW3 compilations!

edit: on > one

god, i havent thought about machinimas in ages... the only ones i was really into as a kid were ones done by SMG4, but i haven't watched any of em in 13+ years now. wonder what that guy is up to these days...

Arby n Chief.

My friends and i still quote it when we play Halo.

Red Vs. Blue (before it went to shit and got convoluted), Freeman's Mind, The GMod Idiot Box...
Also, even though it was made in SFM, I still feel it falls into the category - Emesis Blue.

Bro, Team Fabulous 2....

The loss of the creator still hurts, bro. It's been a decade and it still feels like...

Man...

Machinima didn't just disappear: the people who made it what it was literally died. Monty Oum, I'm thinking of you. R.I.P. man...

This threat inflicts emotional damage upon me.
Internet culture is all but dead and I miss it.

Damn, those videos are 10+ years old already? I feel really old man

Smash King without a doubt. It's still going too.
Unlike the usual parody machinima, it tells a more serious anime-style story in Smash Bros.

Sonic for hire was MY shit in middle school, I loved its awkward humour and snappy conversations.

It was during my edgy phase as-well so I’d always relate to Sonic, which looking back, probably wasn’t good since he roofied cheerleaders and all that.

Machinima Inbox with Sark and APL. That and their other content with Nanners and Hutch all made me laugh till I cried.
