A controller...that you WEAR?! How rad is that!? And look at all those buttons and cords! Speaking of buttons...

Yeah, it only worked for ONE game and took up more space than your mum's View attachment 68695 collection, but holy Hell does this controller just look badass. If only it had been compatible for other games...
i wonder if this could be recreated with flight sim and sim racing stuff

I wish I got the purple one so bad! I disagree on looks (it’s okay, but not astounding) but I’m a lover of the feel for it.

There’s also more than one person in this thread who HATES this thing, and they have their own legitimate reasons for it!

For me, to lay it out there, DualShock 4 is an experiment we were unwillingly a part of, and DualSense is the completion of that experiment. It is DECIDEDLY not the classic DualShock design, doesn’t want to be, and it’s better off for it. The adaptive triggers, while I’ve found them hated by some, are the only gimmick that has gotten me excited in a long time and is something I’m always looking for in certain games. And, it’s designed for bigger hands, so it fits extremely comfortably into mine.

But the reliability is DOG WATER. You can blame any number of things, but I would blame the failed experiments of the DualShock 4 (light bar, touch pad, etc.) because they HAD to be built into this thing to make backwards compatibility possible. And these things aren’t cheap either.

I love my DualSense. I would recommend it to people. But only if you aren’t wanting “just a controller”. You want that, Microsoft is the king of that. No frills, no gimmicks, just solid build quality and low-ish prices.

DualSense is the Lexus and XBox pad is the Honda, if that makes any sense.

Saturn circle pad. Looks like a Dreamcast controller from an alternate timeline. I like all the white controllers with the bright colourful buttons in general.

I gotta own one. I love NiGHTS, and it’s okay to play on the standard pad, but it can kinda hurt if you’re trying to go for high scores.

This is peak. What more do you need
Aesthetically, man, it’s good.

I don’t know if it’s built for one or two hands and that’s always been my issue, but I adore the brown, red, and black aesthetic.

Wish I still had my Sega Sports DC pad. ::dkfacepalm

The Wavebird is still pretty spiffy, imo.
I totally agree. That SEGA Sports had is amazing.

The Redragon Harrow Pro is not only a nice-looking controller but also a good controller overall; it feels good in the hands, and it's half the price of an OG Xbox controller. For me, it's at the same quality.

I grew up in the 2000s. I never owned an N64 and I only ever played on one once and I thought this thing felt awful. I have no nostalgia for this thing whatsoever. And yet, because so many cartoons and children's TV shows would base their hyper advanced fictional video game controllers on the N64 one, this thing holds a special place in my heart due to the looks (also I didn't know what an N64 was when I saw those cartoons so it really added to the mystique with the whack ass three hand layout)
This one. 5 year old me thought it looked like a spaceship.

This may be the prettiest controller I ever owned. This image doesn't do it justice, if you see it IRL you'll notice that it has a transparent surface and the orange part on the inside is somewhat reflective.

I also like the shape and concept of the Wii controllers, and how their look matches the console and its menu.

I'm a sucker for the GameCube controller, I bought the Smash 4 edition back then to play Sonic Adventure 2 Battle on my Wii, gotta say this is the best controller for the Wii

Is there a way to play with on PC?

I have that one but it's not the same brand, how come?

When it comes to pure looks, my favorite controller is Dreamcast’s pad.

It’s so colorful, even in a basic formation, with these beautiful curves, lines, and all that. It’s like the controller variant of the iMac’s from the time. It’s unique and beautiful to look at. I may not love playing on it because of how it cramps my hands with the back, but WOW is it pretty to look at.

As a runner up, and I’ve mentioned it many times, but the NEO GEO.

The AES pad… it’s not a pad. It’s a stick. That’s your default controller. And with the gold text and everything?! What a flex this this. Just the utter decadence of a system to say “no, you’re getting the arcade experience at home, so you’re getting an arcade stick! Get over here, twerp!” And the way the buttons CURVE to fit the curve of your hand?! It’s actually so crazy to see, because this is what this kind of controller SHOULD look like.
DC everything is peak!

The Gamecube pad, particularly in the Spongebob-ass Spice color is a thing of beauty.

The trans-Green dual Shock 2 is pleasant on the eyes in so many ways

1747159441299.png

Say what you will, the Wii U pad is sexy. In either color, might I add.
(Love the top-placed parallel sticks! Wish N would have kept that as a theme.)
(Also with the Wii U pro controller had the same size buttons and button spacing as the game pad, lol)

And this shit right here, will always seem like "the future" to me. Peak.

Honorable mentions:
  • The original Joycons are super slick
  • I really like the way the Dualshock 4 "modernized" the Sony controller design elements
  • Everything about the Japanese (not the U.S.) Saturn aesthetic is great
  • The 6-button PC-FX pad is a great on the eyes as well.
