Favorite Fighting games?

Soulcal I & II, 3rd Strike, Garou mark of the wolves, VSav, KOF 2K2, Xrd Rev 2, AC+R, BBCF and I've been getting into VF4EVO and Tekken 3 and 5, pretty tight.

@Sanomoe remember it's 2026 EVERYTHING is fluid now.

Phantom Break Omnia is also a decent fighting game the story is meh but the gameplay is good enough.
I like the Anime design and I got it on sale back then to.
Got with a 90% discount on Steam, to complement it's chibi beat'em up ::thumbsupwario

Kusoge lovers will probably enjoy Bikini Karate Babes. I mean, the game got a sequel so it must've been good. Mortal Szombat also comes to mind.

I was a SF2 addict
Now I love kick the ass of my cousin MvC2. Usually I enjoy play Tekken 3 alone, also Very rarely I play SF3 third strike in FightCade

On the obscure side, I'm very much in love with Evil Zone (PS1) and the yuri-fan service indie FG BattleQueen. All characters in Evil Zone got full-fledge story that make them the main character of their own route, even the villain (Ihadurca) has her own story, and presented like 90s episodic anime. Thanks to MaxDood for spreading the good shit to me.

I'll keep yapping about BattleQueen because it's the only upcoming fighting games I'm actually invested in, and the game is mostly focused on fundamental/footsies similar to Samurai Shodown with combo is very basic but damage is good.

But when it comes to the "yeah, everyone knows that", it has to be Dead or Alive (5LR and 6; since I don't grew up with DoA) and KOF ('98, 2000, and 2002). Sometimes I wanna pull my signature KKK Team (Kyo, K', Kula) when I feel freaky.

Fucking dogshit all of them. So yeah, far from being good, but goddamn it's fun.

Damn, whip special is so nasty, it's too hard to avoid it!!
Despite I love Kof2002, my team is Terry, Leona and ryo, ( usually I change him to Kyo clone)

Guilty Gear XX (PS2)

My little circle of friends sunk so many hours into playing each other in this game. At the time, we would say that this is what a proper DBZ game should play like!

Eventually, our preferred way to play was to go into Training Mode, infinite health, (usually) infinite super gauge, (sometimes) gold characters, and play until dizzy –> Instant Kill move. The matches could last virtually any amount of time, be it 10 seconds or 10 minutes, but it was always competitive and intense..

Call me normie but 3rd Strike is one of my favorite games ever.
I love many more fighting games, they are one of my favorite genres, there are very few series that I haven't tried enough like SamSho or MK

Granblue fantasy vurses.
King of fighter 15
Gulty gear
Blaze blue
J-star victroy
Persona 4 arena
Arcana heart 1-3
Dark stalkers
SNK HEROINES Tag Team Frenzy
Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax

Akatsuki Blitzkampf fucking rules, what a game, man, excellent gameplay, roster, visuals, and art direction, and it’s also a really deep and underrated game.

One of the fighters is a giant tank with a skeleton face, I'm not kidding!
Blitztank-colors-lazy.gif

Another underrated fave is Groove on Fight, this game has the sauce

Also, here’s my list of favorite fighting games (I'll do another update in the near future lol)

samsho is really fun to me because its so much more like, punishment based if that makes sense? the gameplay takes a really interesting turn when its less about combos like that

My personal favorites are Mvc2 and Third Strike, but two games I'd consider kusoge that I still enjoy would be Hyper Street Fighter II and Hyper Street Fighter Alpha.

Both are official "edition select" games, which allow you to play using any version of character against one another. This means that, as examples, you could play World Warrior Guile vs Super Turbo Guile in HSFII, or Alpha 3 Cammy vs Alpha 2 Gold EX Sagat in HSFA. The matchups can be rather lopsided.

There are also additional "isms" not normally in the Alpha series that HSFA offers, including one that adds a parry similar to the SF3 series, as well as one that gives characters some moves from the Vs series, such as Charlie gaining access to his moonsault slash move.

HSFII is readily available on modern systems via Capcom Fighting Collection 1 and Fightcade. Unfortunately, HSFA has been exclusive to the Street Fighter Alpha Anthology on PS2 as a hidden unlockable game, and is lesser known because of this.

To add an addendum, I also have been enjoying Tatsunoko vs Capcom lately - the "Baroque" system is very interesting, sacrificing health to cancel moves. Not to mention, a very unique roster to boot. It's an excellent game trapped in Wii/emulation purgatory.

Hyper SFA is such a strange addition to be forgotten in time. So much so LOTS of people never even heard of this "game". It's kinda like USF4 where you get to choose versions but at the same time the new meters, while completely revamping certain characters, does absolutely none for others. Not having an arcade mode sure didn't help its case either.

Based KOF XI enjoyer, also SVC MoTM had no reason to be that good considering it's a NGP game (which funny enough NGP had SNK Gals Fighters AND Last Blade Beyond Destiny, which also kicks all kinds of ass). ::omgdoom
