Friend, I'm sorry to tell you that I don't know anything about programming.

As far as nostalgia goes, must be a mix of XP and Ubuntu 6(ish).

I find the brown humanity color scheme and the overall theme they had going on pleasant. A honorable mention for Win 3.1 because it's the first os I have distinct memories of.
For what I actually like to use these days, I'd say Debian for a reliable workhorse and Arch for bleeding edge performance.

From a Nostalgic perspective windows 95( first family computer ), and a later upgraded desktop with xp ( Bonanza Edition ).
Right now I'm into Linux Mint Cinnamon( working fine ).

My favorite is definitely Arch Linux. Linux feels like it's really onto great things these days, while Windows feels like it peaked several versions ago.

That being said, the OS I'm most nostalgic for is the older versions of Mac OS X. Back when like 97% of people were using Windows XP, we were a Mac household. I loved the Aqua interface.

XP for sure. It's was so soft and squishy.

Windows 10 for all the cool stuff, but i sometimes remember Windows 7 and can only crave coming back to that simpler Frutiger Aero times

Windows XP back in the day (Our family PC came with ME then we upgraded) although I still used the default Windows theme instead of the new XP theme as I preferred the look plus it was snappier. For a modern OS I'm gonna have to go with Linux Mint Cinnamon as I've been using it for about 18 months and I'm more than happy with it.

Windows 7. It was the last good version of Windows, and it had an amazing aesthetic. For a modern OS, I would say Linux Mint, which is what I'm using now.

Yeah I've always said if I didn't need windows 10 for the Xbox functionality back when I got into PC gaming in 2018 I'd have used 7.
