favorite call of duty?

Black Ops II, no question. It was the whole package- a great campaign, multiplayer and Zombies mode as well as a theme song by Trent Reznor of NIN.
MW2, MW3 and Ghosts also had great multiplayer and Ghosts Extinction mode was an interesting and fun deviation from Zombies. Black Ops had the best campaign and the only story ever told in a CoD game that wasn't boring and/or cliche AF.
CoD4 Modern Warfare was brilliant. I olayed up until Infinite Warfare then dropped off. Have any of them gotten better since?
I particularly enjoyed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (the one with Tom Hardy). Definitely closer in gameplay to Ghosts or something than the old Modern Warfare's, what with crouch-sliding and non-OP killstreaks. Haven't played any of the other new ones, but their soundtracks are fucking tight.

the best

I can give you my top 5
CoD 2 so fun playing it in LAN
CoD 4 MW. still play it now and then when I find a fun server and im still part of a clan call Xtreme Idiots
I also love the old MW2. Man I had so fun playing MW2 with friends.
Black ops 1 was fun as well and I still love to play Zombie with my best friend.
CoD WWII also kind of fun to play

Man I have not bought a CoD game sense WWII but I don´t feel like it´s worth the money 60+ euro to get your ass handed to you sound like a bad deal.

Had World at War on Wii and loved the campaign mode.
Black ops 3 zombies was great, easy modding and all the dlc make it perfect.
Was never super into the multiplayer but I had a ton of fun with gun game in black ops 1

BO2 for me.
The customization back then was new to the series. I remember i made some killer builds like equipping the Scorpion EVO with rate of fire, extended mag and laser sight. The scorpion EVO already has the highest rate of fire of any weapon in the game but with the added attachment and using perks that made aiming from the hip accurate i was running at mach 2 speed and hip firing headshots like i was playing Doom. I also did it to the PDW and it was like a personal minigun cause of its already extended ammo on stock.

Good times.

Call of Duty 2 and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare are the two I'm most nostalgic for. My favorite campaign, however, is Infinite Warfare. This is the most ambitious COD campaign and doesn't get the love it deserves. I heard the multiplayer wasn't great, though, so maybe that's why.

Campaign - CoD 2. Second place OG MW
Zombies - Black Ops 1. second place word at war
Multiplayer - OG MW, Second place CoD WWII

I've said this several times on the forum, and maybe people are starting to get tired of hearing me repeat the same old things, xD

For me, Call of Duty is a saga that dies the moment it decides to abandon World War II and embark on the path of modern warfare. They could have made another franchise and done whatever they wanted with it, but for me, the series' swan song is Call of Duty: World at War. The idea of experiencing a story that alternates between Japan and Russia might not satisfy everyone, given that the previous games all focused on the "juiciest" events of World War II in Europe, but I found it damn fascinating, both for its dark tone (which perhaps was less forceful in previous games in favor of a more cinematic approach), for the stories you follow, and for the missions that are never boring, like the sniper mission that reminded me of the movie "Enemy at the Gates".

And can we talk about Nazi Zombies? God, as a kid, watching my dad play it on his PC made me both happy and scared, xD

I enjoyed the other previous games too, but World at War is several notches above the rest, the best war game in my opinion, along with Medal of Honor Airborne.

Campaign - Call of Duty 4
Zombies - I don't like that mode
Multiplayer - Call of Duty 4

for me it has to be the following:
campaign - Black Ops 1
multiplayer - MW2 (2009)
zombies - Infinite Warfare

Infinite Warfare was not the best game but man the zombies mode was fun. the pure replayability of that mode along with a strange charm it had made it the only call of duty zombies i actually go back to play. I love most zombies modes but that one is just special to me.

Campaign: Modern Warfare 2 (2009)
Multiplayer: Black Ops 2
Zombies: Black Ops 3

I might as well go a bit crazy here, because when it comes to Call of Duty as a whole, I mainly play for the Zombies mode, so bear with me.

I really wanted to pick Black Ops 2 for Zombies, but it’s hard to ignore just how good Black Ops 3 is, especially thanks to its incredible modding scene. If you set aside the DLC aspect for a moment, the Steam Workshop for Black Ops 3 is absolutely packed with really good content. You’ll find faithful recreations of classic maps with some nice QoL improvements that doesn't impact the game too much (Mob of the Dead, Die Rise, Call of the Dead, Der Riese), incredible fan-made remasters (Der Riese: Declassified, Daybreak, Return to Verruckt, Town Remastered), and a ton of creative custom maps, with some of them once used to be a custom WaW zombies map back in the old days (Shoot Haus, Kowloon, Rainy Death, C-Town, Evil Dead (based on the movie), Return to Das Herrenhaus, Der Hafen, Echoes of the Gorgon, Banana Tower, Leviathan, etc).

Please, if you love the Zombies mode, consider playing Black Ops 3 on PC and try them out. It's a blast.

Dude, IW's Zombies mode was amazing. Had a lot of personality and a really amazing Super EE. I remember me and a couple of buddies of mine tried to complete the whole thing, it was literal hell and the most challenging experience compare to the other past iterations of the Zombie mode. That truly was the peak.
