But why? in over 50 years I have never met one person who likes Ecco. Why is that, because the games suck
The game doesn't suck, it's just really hard. But why? in over 50 years I have never met one person who likes Ecco. Why is that, because the games suck

i like em. Play them long enough and you just go into the zone. Solving level puzzles is easy after that. But why? in over 50 years I have never met one person who likes Ecco. Why is that, because the games suck

Sorry friends, but you lost me at shooting sonar at clamsi like em. Play them long enough and you just go into the zone. Solving level puzzles is easy after that.
Dolphins use sonars, what's the surprise?Sorry friends, but you lost me at shooting sonar at clams![]()
Let me rephrase: shooting anything at clams is not really on my top 3, wait not even top 100 things i want to be doing in a game. Come on why doesn't Sega "remaster" something good instead like: Phantasy Star IV or Shining Force?Dolphins use sonars, what's the surprise?
And to be honest the major issue is mostly air management and how some missions are hard.
I think if Ecco had 50% more Air Meter it would've been much more bearable.
Doing farm work isn't something I absolutely want to do in games I play yet games such as Stardew Valley are still popular. Video games aren't all about doing the same thing (or else the medium would get boring).Let me rephrase: shooting anything at clams is not really on my top 3, wait not even top 100 things I want to be doing in a game.
According to Gematsu:Come on why doesn't Sega "remaster" something good instead like: Phantasy Star IV or Shining Force?
so I'm assuming that it wasn't Sega's decision to do those remasters but the original dev with Sega only being the publisher.Remastered versions of the Genesis games Ecco the Dolphin and Ecco: The Tides of Time are in the works from series creator Ed Annunziata, he announced in an Xbox Wire interview. Once those are complete, Annunziata will begin work on a new, third game in the series.
“Me and the entire original team are going to remaster the original Ecco the Dolphin and [Ecco: The] Tides of Time games,” Annunziata said. “Then we will make a new, third game with contemporary play and GPU sensibilities. Stay tuned to eccothedolphin.com.”
The website features a countdown ending on April 25, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. PT / 12:00 p.m. ET.
Further information was not announced.
Be glad i've grown out of my 20's dirty jokes mindset or your "shooting at clams" comment would have had a far different meaning.Let me rephrase: shooting anything at clams is not really on my top 3, wait not even top 100 things i want to be doing in a game. Sega was not the creator of the ecco games, they published them and helped with the funding, but they were developed by novocade i believe their name was, the creator of the series eventually bought the rights for the game hence why we're here now.so I'm assuming that it wasn't Sega's decision to do those remasters but the original dev with Sega only being the publisher.
Furthermore, a remaster can also fix the bigger flaws of older games because Phantasy Star IV still stands well on its own (while Phantasy Star I on the Switch really benefited from getting a proper dungeon map).
So yeah, it's like how Monster Boy was created without the need of Sega to approve it.Sega was not the creator of the ecco games, they published them and helped with the funding, but they were developed by novocade i believe their name was, the creator of the series eventually bought the rights for the game hence why we're here now.
The ideal is them restoring the cancelled elements from Phantasy Star CD or even the first person dungeons (like in that mock-up from a magazine)As for phantasy star 4, I actually disagree, 4 didn't need a dungeon map, 2 however could definitely use one.

The real problems are A, could they, and B would it have a pc version without denuvo as phantasy star is not big enough in the west to survive denuvo, i have severe doubts the current sega could even make a good take on the original games at this point since they seem to have completely forgotten them.So yeah, it's like how Monster Boy was created without the need of Sega to approve it.

And maybe glitch fixing as well as experience optimisation.
I don't see the point of Denuvo on indie and smaller games. The real problems are A, could they, and B would it have a pc version without denuvo as phantasy star is not big enough in the west to survive denuvo, i have severe doubts the current sega could even make a good take on the original games at this point since they seem to have completely forgotten them.
Or even the one from the Dreamcast era either.the current sega is not the sega of a decade ago let alone 30 years ago.
I saw that in a video. So, that means they are doing a 4th game or what if there was already a Ecco game for the Dreamcast?Briefly played the DC version, maybe now it's a good time to replay it.
