The Capcom Disney games on Snes are what i could call perfect in terms of challenge but also difficulty, and the jungle theme in Circus Mystery is a bop.

Limbo it's also pretty good and accessible, if puzzle platformers are your thing.

Limbo is already retro? I thought that Inside was arguably easier.

Fire Emblem: The sacred stones is at least my easiest experience with a retro game.
Not a high difficulty to begin with, and the game gives ample opportunity to farm outside the main story’s maps, with little risk of losing units to permadeath.
The whole final stretch just left me feeling kinda bored with how easy it was. I think I killed the final boss in two or three hits.
It’s probably one of the only times I’ve said “too easy” as a criticism, as usually I don’t really care or notice the difficulty in games

Duck Tails is a fun game, but it's piss easy unless you're going for the best ending - then it's all about knowing the game to get the most cash. Ditto to Alex Kidd in Shinobi World - piss easy. Why didn't I say Castle of Illusion as well for the Master System? Because World of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck exists on the Genesis. Any of the Kirby's Dream Land games fit the bill (especially 3).

I used to think that Mega Man 2 was super easy until I grew up and played the first games on the Legacy Collection. I had an easier time with the first Mega Man game (Yellow Devil and all) than part 2

Until you do their respective Extra Mode (and Arena).

Streets of Rage 2 is pretty easy, even on Hard mode. The game really doesn't test your metal until Very Hard and Mania.
