Im curious to see some of your favorite cases of early cgi in retro games, i always loved seeing old crusty or strange/funny looking cutscenes, so please share with me, im super interested in this kind of topic!

it can be funny or cool, just have fun sharing some favorites.
One of my favorites is the Shadow hearts opening, as well as baroque's first opening from the sega saturn, these are horror games tho so keep that in mind before viewing lol

Tekken 1 has some of the worst not gonna lie

Final Fantasy VII has almost 50 minutes of cutscenes made with CGI and it is still impressive to me.
i always loved the ff7 CGI cutscenes, always a treat when they showed up, i esspecially love how everything is made of styrofoam and is nearly dead quiet like in the cutscene before the motorcycle chase lol

First pic is Parasite Eve. I plan on streaming it in October and doing a review on it.

oh dude somebody mentioned that game to me on a thread i made earlier this week, i'm 100% tuning in if im free!
This is entirely off topic from the rest of the post here i know but, i was actually planning to pick up streaming again, i used to have this whole png tuber set up but that was back in 2021 and i don't feel like drawing/making new assets to use for myself lol

unrelated from my last post, i absolutely love gungrave's cutscenes, the early cel-shading and character designs of Yasuhiro Nightow blend so perfectly together to make this amazing dingy atmosphere, with cool gunplay too, absolutely love this gem of a game.

Awesome! I plan on trying out a VTuber model after my webcam comes in! Just something I threw together in VRoid Studio until I get better at this or hire someone to make me a better model.

All those early CG scenes looked so great to me as a kid. They were literally a selling point for a while, it was very impressive when we were used to playing Genesis and Super Nintendo games a couple years before. Since I owned a Saturn I really liked the Nights and Virtua Fighter Kids cutscenes at the time (mainline Virtua Fighter never really bothered with story scenes).
There was a unique atmosphere to that stuff. Admittedly, when I play a new-to-me PS1 or PS2 game nowadays I don't care about the CG scenes at all.

One is the intro in Clock Tower Ghost Head it still looks great to this day
Also who doesn't love this smile

MANNNN THIS ONE, i loved NiGHTS so much back in the day, whatever the hell that games style was, it lives rent free in my mind, i still remember how gambling in sonic adventure got me into it lol
While this is off topic, NiGHTS got a really bad archie comic, worth a read if you love terrible uncanny things.
