Early video game CGI

God what was that fkn game....you were a dude trying to save your kidnapped girlfriend or something, and there were elephants...? Mobster elephants? Why can't I remember the title.

The CG for that was wildly cursed.
Little Big Adventure?

The first Blood Omen LoK has an introduction that is still fabulous in its clumsiness:

fantastic narrative
i also like a lot some further ones, like the vampire Vorador encounter, or the King one

I really like every cutscene in Ancient Roman but the intro takes the cake.

I found these cute CG renders of the Hebereke cast from a Neo-Geo Protos website. Seems they’re for a lost MVS puzzle game.

They’re cute and toy-like, with that bizarrely dark lighting that makes them look slightly ominous. They kind of remind me of the Gachapón Sonic The Fighters line you can get in Shenmue.

Sonic 3D Blast Intro, need I say more?
Friggin' blew my mind at six years old that my console could even render it this competently. Also, that Sega scream? *chef's kiss*

I love the one that doesn't even try to look realistic, like the spaceship (and the alien creatures) on RAMA:

Y'know, a lot of people look at early CGI in videogames or even in general, they look at it and say "Oh, it looks so bad/funny". Maybe they'll even be a little generous and give it a "it was pretty good/innovative for its time". I genuinely think early CGI looks awesome to this day, without a single bit of irony, it still looks good.
