Duckstation BIOS

Your BIOS file mimics the region version of the console. A JPN BIOS file is compatible with JPN roms. I'd recommend sticking to a worldwide BIOS file if you intend to play games from multiple regions.

It's here alright!

@Zero_X - From experience, I can tell you that a single BIOS for all games is the easiest and fastest way to emulate titles. However, it can also cause problems with certain games...
The best way is to provide DuckStation with 3 BIOSes: personally, I use SCPH-5500 (JP), SCPH-5501 (US), and SCPH-5502 (EU), and everything always worked and works great ;->

Tu archivo BIOS reproduce la versión regional de la consola. Un archivo BIOS JPN es compatible con ROMs JPN. Recomiendo usar un archivo BIOS global si quieres jugar juegos de varias regiones.
Is the SCPH 1001 only for Japanese consoles? It worked for me on Epsxe for all the games.

Nope, the SCPH-1001 is not for Japanese consoles, it is actually the North American launch model of the PlayStation.

  • SCPH-1000 → Japan
  • SCPH-1001 → North America
  • SCPH-1002 → Europe

View attachment 100113Now I understand, that should work, but the emulator with three BIOSes is very demanding. But anyway, let's try.

You mean the last one, SCPH 5552? Because I can't find 5502.

Duckstation doesn't work for me on Android 13, at least not for me.I am referring to the BIOS, while Epsxe presents problems to many users like me with the audio and, and its timing. All I can do is play Duckstation without the BIOS.

@Zero_X - They change based on variations/updates/adjustments made in the countries they were intended for (if you notice, the Japanese one is unique).

Anyway... here it is (the "PSX-BIOSES" file I attached contains all 3) 🙂
I'm a genius! I finally got the BIOS working properly! And just by choosing the one that used SCPH 1001. The solution is simple, even the Emulator makes it clear to you when you open the BIOS for the first time.

@Zero_X - Hey, glad to know! 🙂
The SCPH-1001 is essentially the direct descendant of the Japanese SCPH-1000: it can practically be considered the father of Western PlayStation BIOSes. It's very reliable, as it's essentially a revision of the original Japanese BIOS for the Western market.
However, over the years and with increasingly demanding games, this BIOS could cause sporadic problems too, so... I recommend to also keep the BIOSes I provided you handy (actually, you can put them all together in the BIOS folder, given that DuckStation autodetects the most appropriate one for each game) ;->
