As someone who has seen people close to me obtained power (money, actual strength, fame etc.) dozens of times and they turned dick every single time, yes.

Absolutely and I LOVE IT! Nothing like controlling the populous! Corruption? Hell, that's my middle name! ::hellmo
So, nice to meet you, just your full name, sorry for the joke.Neb, have a great day! I'm looking forward to your next drawings. I'm hoping your drawings turn out well because I know they're excellent.

As you can see, we have an example of someone who isn't well-prepared for power... 😔

The villainousty is raining from this person's face! ::dkfacepalm

You should all be aware of what kinds of people are good and what kinds of people aren't...
And make sure to support the person who has an angelic face! 🌟
(😇)
And that will guarantee that the power will be well spent for personal... err... i mean, each person's benefit! ::coolstafy

Violence isn't very good, my little grasshopper, as our dear Master Miyagi used to say.

We have both philanthropists and misers, benevolent kings and tyrants, the cool supervisor who lets you off early and sticklers. A few years ago I think I would have said yes in a heartbeat but now I think it depends on the person. That said, we do hear a lot more of the ills people do with it.

You would be the most dictatorial mod ever ::winkfelix
Ill be like Genghis Khan, merciless but fair.

It kinda hurts when a philantropist is being outed as a problematic person...

worrysome I thought more of something like Mad Max or Thanos..eh probably more Mad Maxx survival of the fittest hunger games under your watch ;).

I’m sure I’m stating the obvious, but if by “power” we mean pure personal ambition at the expense of the collective, then the individual is already corrupt before they even obtain it. If, on the other hand, we are talking about exercising authority aimed at the common good, then it is not so much a matter of power as it is of responsibility. This logic applies to every sphere, whether it be business, politics, or religion.

Yes, because it is human nature to take something that could be good and beneficial and completely twist it out of shape — very few people are equipped to handle the power without surrendering to it.

There's a quote I really like about it (and no, it's not the fucking Uncle Ben one):

"It wasn't Hitler or Himmler who came to my home, beat me up and caged me.

It was the mailman, the milkman, and the shoemaker, who were given a uniform".

Giving something away on a silver platter breeds envy.

"Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

Lord Acton

Power is neutral, just like any tool. Power isn't something you posses, is something you use.

What happens is that it attracts those who wish to use it for their own gain, as its the nature of the ahrimanic world we live in.

Since the spirit (the self) is dead in most of humanity, people turn to either power, fame, and/or money, to solve their problems.

Power doesn't corrupt people, corrupt people seek power.
