I've seen that some "anime fans" on sites say that they've watched anime episodes on 2x speed due to the "pacing being slow". Do you or have you ever watched any anime episodes in 2x speed?

I haven't as I don't see a reason to fast forward an anime episode, since I'd be missing out on what's even going on.

If an anime is so boring to you that you miss nothing by watching it in double speed, why watch it in the first place?

Maybe it's my age or my arty-fartiness showing, but to me the more deliberate pace is actually the appeal of good anime.

I dislike dropping something I already started, plus to be able to state the reasons I didn't like something I must try that, but I see no problem in speeding any anime since I can keep with the subtitles. But that's not something I often do and the thought rarely passes through my head since I'm not used to it, plus most of the time I'm watching something it is just to pass time, I would kill the purpose of it if I speed it up.

No but I watch slow movies skipping, specially on parts when they aren't speaking and I notice they are delaying scenes to reach the 2hs mark (why everything has to be 2hs....).

Yup,that the reason why i doesn't mind older anime with slow pace,i feel like getting fast pace would always result the show unable to fleshed out the plot, character itself to the point they feel too robotic at some point, also that why i doesn't mind slow burn anime or some games like Disco Elysium,Xenogears disc 2 or Lost Odyssey.

No why the heck would I do that? LOL That's just madness.
I know it's really silly. I have to watch it on 1x speed or I wouldn't bother watching any anime episodes too.

Maybe so people watching will fall asleep and miss the boring parts of movies? Just a guess.

Yeah I actually struggle keeping up with the plot if its moving too fast like 2x speed, especially on stuff that is more plot heavy like Texhnolyze or something.

If I'm ever watching something that makes me feel like I need to view it at twice it's intended speed, I'm just gonna drop it.
This.

I have dropped dozens of animes because they just weren't doing it for me. Usually, rushing through something is a clear indication that you aren't enjoying it.

Yeah, there's far too much content out there to slog through something you don't enjoy. I used to watch every episode of DBZ and sometimes I wish there was a 2x option back in the day, but now you couldn't pay me to watch that most of that series. Just watch the good shows instead.

It generally makes sense. I always watch movies on fast forward these days, only stopping when something interesting happens on screen. There's too many movies, most not very engaging and life too short.

It might be good to add less plot heavy anime to ones that you watch.
Yeah, you are right. I've been spicing things up a bit by getting back into iyashikei and any SoL stuff that catches my attention, maybe even a few comedy oriented stuff here and there.

Iyashikei, SoL and for sure comedies are my favorites for anime and manga. If you'd like I can always suggest some anime or manga in those genres. The pic is kawaii though I'm unfamiliar with who she is.

Oh I would like a comedy suggestion for maybe something lesser known if you have a show in mind, as for the pic she is Puniru from "Puniru wa Kawaii Slime" which is a cute comedy show whic
h is still airing right now, it's very goofy if you are into that.

I think you did mention that one to me? Yes, I can leave some suggestions of hopefully some lesser known anime for you.

I usually only watch Youtube videos at 2x speed, not anime, and even then, I only do it to the Youtube videos that are rambling on and on in order to fill a runtime quota.

If something's worth watching, I think it's worth watching properly, with your full attention. But sometimes you're interested in the content of something, but it's too boring to sit through. In that case, the general gist is good enough.

Of course, that's just me. I understand that some people, particularly those with ADHD, find it easier to focus on something that's running faster than normal. And I'm a strong proponent of people experiencing media in the way they want to experience it.

That would be cool!

I can at least understand those overly long YT commentary videos at least

If it had subtitles I would NOT be able to watch 2x speed. I am a very slow reader, I can barely read subtitles in time at 1x speed. Which can be very exhausting which is a major reason I prefer dubs.

But even for a dub i wouldn't watch 1.5x speed, I would sooner just stop watching at that point I think.

I will effectively be watching anime at 0.5x speed when im high/stoned though, because I will be rewinding constantly because the smallest most insignificant things will be so interesting to me I need to see them again and again to really take everything in and see/hear every detail. I will easily spend 30-40 minutes on a 20 minute episode just losing my mind over some mundane thing.

Semi off-topic tangent: I would somtimes see my friends watch anime/shows/movies by themselves, but they will then keep looking on their phone without pausing the anime/movie, which blows my mind because if I watch am anime I dont wanna miss a single moment no matter how uninteresting a scene might be, otherwise I feel I might aswell just not watch it atall.

I tend to watch anime at normal speed especially if it got me hooked by first up to third episode. Buying the case of animes like one piece or naruto/boruto I tend speed it up or even skip episode(s).

Coincidentally I have ADD. Speaking only from personal experience here my brain decides for me what I find interesting and obsess over. I couldn't trick it by playing a video faster. That would make me only process faster how bored I am by the content.

I'm not going to police how others consume media I was just a bit flabbergasted here. I thought watching something you don't enjoy just to pass the time was a habit we left in the daytime tv days before we had the collected creative output of the human race at our finger tips 24/7.
