I'm curious how social you guys are when playing video games. I personally prefer to play alone with single-player games. I like immersing myself in the game for a nice little break from reality. However when I play multiplayer games or with other people I just can't seem to relax. I'd love to hear what you guys do.

For me it's predominantly single-player, but I don't mind multiplayer games that use either chat "wheels" where you can't type out your own messages, or that use canned voice-lines, like in Earth Defence Force.

Alone, coaching others on a game isn't fun at all unless we’re on a sesh or something.

Much as I prefer flying solo, I've had fun playing multiplayer most every time. Especially nowadays, when it's not common for me to do so. Besides? My word, beat-em-ups and some other games are so much easier with a Player Two than a single player.

For sake of democracy which is non-negotiable, I picked "Alone, Single Player Games" on the poll.

usually single player games but I equally spend the same amount of time, sometimes more, on 1-on-1 Fighting games online, sometimes offline which you can consider multiplayer. honestly i'm split 50/50.

Both, really. Couch multiplayer games are more of a social activity, while solo games are either about personal challenge or a experience altogether.

In more rare occasions the multiplayer games is both about social and challenge. In those cases you'll see the most expressive and over the top version of me.

Alone for both single-player and multiplayer.
I'm heavy into competitive multiplayer games but i hate anything that involves playing with other people, unless it's a session of fighting games with a good friend.
I MIGHT rarely be willing to play a single player with someone very close to me but i think it's only fun if it isn't a coop game

Alone i guess. Local Multiplayer is really fun but i haven't gotten any opportunities to play any games locally ever since i finished college, and playing Online games with random people is an awful experience that i prefer to stay away from.

I usually play jrpg games on DSi or PSP, obviously alone, while I play beat'em up and shoot'em up games with my son, my brother or some friends, on a bootleg multi-systems console: here obviously the fun is more, but also the fits of anger. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Single-player with or without friends and couch co-op, that's it. Competitive versus brings out the worst in strangers and most people suck at co-op or don't try. The last online multiplayer game I played was Journey, funnily enough.

Edit: correction, it was Monster Hunter World. I was open to hunting with others until I started running into players who would wait until the monster was near dead, then triple cart, ruining the hunt and wasting my time. Solo'd the rest of the game after that.

I'm a lone wolf almost all the time, even though Monster Hunter, my favorite franchise, is designed from the ground up to be structured around multiplayer.
That’s probably how I’ll play it if I somehow ever get to those games. MP is just not my thing.

I got used to playing MH alone, even though it's more difficult that way. I figured I'd play better against worse odds. For the most part it has been true, haha.

The more challenging, the more fun.
Some Dark Souls 3 bosses were sadly designed with coop in mind which is why they’re a little harder than they should be.

I always felt DS multiplayer was more of a drop in/drop out option than something it was really designed for (given you can only summon players at specific places and need items to do so), but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
